My point is, whether it takes our 1st and 4th or our 1st and 6th (based on the NFL Value Point System) we could get two late 1st round picks. I'm all for getting Brady Quinn if he's there, but if he's gone (most likely) and we pull a deal like this (hypothetical), is it safe to say that the next best tackle in Levi Brown can fall to the 24th? If so we could draft him there, and take Kalil at the 28th. I highly doubt Kalil will make it to our pick in the 2nd given his recognition as the best center coming out this year. Same with Brown, not to optimistic about his chances falling that far, but I'm no draft guru, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Why the Patriots? Their 2nd round WR Chad Jackson, tore his ACL in the championship game, and suffice to say he's going to miss an ample amount of time next season. Can't rely on him to be much of an impact, and I would think their not counting on Gaffney and Caldwell after letting Branch go last season. The #9 pick gives the Patriots a SHOT at one of the big three at WR; Ginn Jr., Jarrett, or Calvin Johnson (highly unlikely but you never know).

One could argue they wouldn't take a WR in round 1 or even trade up for one since they took one in the 2nd last year. This is just a hypothecial scenario, that if it were available, would you make this deal?

If it were only 50 points, and they were trying to trade into top 10, I think we could do 2-1sts for our first straight up. 2nd, NE has no reason to trade up with us. No reason at all. They'll get amazing value with both their current picks. They'll be able to get a cornerback and a WR. Even at 24, they still might have a chance at Jarrett. And if not there is Bowe or Meachem, who I would prefer over Jarrett anyways.

I'm going to make a prediction. Because of the combine Levi Brown and J. Thomas will be neck and neck as who the best tackles are. We will do either two things. If quinn is drafted before us we will be taking Levi Brown. If Quinn makes it to us we'll draft him and use him for bate so that we can get some more picks. We then would still have a first round pick, high enough to take Brown and some additional picks as well.

I say this because I am not totally sold on Quinn and feel Culpepper will give us a better chance to win this year and the three yrs after that. Quinn will not need four years to become a pretty good Qb but he won't be making any strides within the next two. If Pep cannot get back to form then we will either play Cleo Lemon who has a ton of experience in our system and Cameron's or draft a Qb in the first next year. If Pep and Lemon cannot get it done, we will have a VERY high draft pick and scoring a qb that has fewer questions will be available.

I believe a Lemon today will be better then a rookie Quinn.

New England would never make the trade with an AFC east opponent.

They did deal Lawyer Milloy to the Bills right? Or was he cut and signed by the Bills?

Post combine maybe Bowe or Meachem aren't worth a 1st round pick and Jarrett elevates himself to a higher draft pick? It's all possible. Bowe soared into the 1st round after his performance in the Senior Bowl and it's practices.

Can we trade with another team besides NE. I would hate to see Brady throwing the ball to Ginn for the next few seasons at our expense.

New England always seems to value their picks, so I would kind of be surprised if they would trade up. Who would they want so much that they would need to trade up to get? They seem set at offense with the exception of receivers, and with the depth at wideout they surely could get a good one where they are. The only players I could think of were Laron Landry and Reggie Nelson considering they had Artrell Hawkins starting for them at safety last season and how Rodney Harrison is always injured/getting old. If we were to trade down, I doubt it would be with New England.

The Pats have a lot of needs, I don't see them trading up unless they go way up for Johnson.

Other more likely trading partners are teams who don't really need a lot of roster spots filled. For example:

Pittsburgh has almost no holes in their lineup but could use a guy like Levi Brown if Max Starks goes as a RFA.

Cinncinatti is desperate for interior defensive linemen. If Branch slides to us they might be interested in trading.

The Ravens are letting Jamal Lewis go. If Adrian Petersen falls to us they would be very likely trading partners.

The Colts have almost no holes in their roster but with Rhodes and June probably gone as FA's they might trade to get the first shot at Marshawn Lynch or Willis or Poluzny, if they really like one of those guys.

Green Bay may also want first shot at Lynch or they may want Ginn and not want to risk him sliding, but they have a lot of needs as well. They would be more likely trade partners for a deal involving one of our veteran receivers or Ricky Williams.

Not to worry. Brady doesn't punt or kickoff, therefore, Ginn wouldn't be catching anything delivered by Brady.

while trading down is a nice option, trading with the pats won't happen - and not because we're in their division. if the pats want to draft a wr, they can wait for bowe or meachem or rice. all would be great options, one of them will undoubtedly be available when they draft in the first. as someone already pointed out, they have multiple needs, so they need the draft picks. they can take a wr and (most likely) a lb with their picks in round one.
