Hypothetical: If RYAN torches us in week 1...

Hindsight is 20/20. To look at it and then make a decision is clearly ignorant. Realize your mistakes, learn from them, move on. You'll gain absolutely nothing by dwelling upon them.

There's your life lesson for the day. Peace be with you.

Would you say that we made a mistake NOT taking him?

the only way it was a mistake is if henne turns into a bust and if penny gets hrt or falls apart.

look if we have taken ryan we would have had his 2nd rounder and whites 2nd to find a tackle. so yes passing on ryan may come back to haunt us

I cant really deal with the hypothetical with matt ryan...who knows if we picked him if he would be as good as he is now with atl..

no, still way too soon. I do think we as a team have made a mistake continually drafting the 4th best qb prospects. Hopefully one works out.

Even if he torches us I don't see it was us making a mistake. Him playing well on the Falcons doesn't equate to him playing well on the Dolphins.

If Ryan continues to prove himself as a top 5-10 QB this year, then we made a mistake. I'm not complaining about Jake as he looks to be a top flight LT, but QB is the most important spot on the field. Of course if Henne pans out...it won't be as painful...but that's a big if as Henne has a lot to prove. Of course Atlanta has better targets than we had last year or likely this year too.

Finding a franchise LT has become nearly as important as that elusive franchise QB. To say that if he torches us would it have been a mistake to pass on him is pointless because you eliminate the value of the OLine being where it is if we passed on Long.

People on this board are so defensive about the Jake Long pick.

The bottom line is that if Ryan pans out we, without a doubt, made a HUGE mistake.

imo we have the wrong QB teaching henne .penny is not a gun slinger he is a short to mid range QB. thats what may be wrong with all this thats going on cause if you watch how henne throws he throws alot like what penny dose short to mid range throws just like penny.so imo you cant take a guy that check downs and screen throws with just once in about 35 throws he gose deep (30-40 )yards so i think that might have alot to do with whats going on ..:err:

I think Ryan has already shown he belongs in the NFL and I don't view it as a huge mistake. I look at what we gained which is a franchise LT for years to come.

Well, it wasn't our mistake, if it indeed turns out to be one; it's the FOs; and as bored fans on the internet, we absolutely gain by dwelling on them. That's what fans do: dwell, predict, watch, and chat on forums when they should be at work.

If Matt Ryan turns out to be the real deal, he was worth the first overall pick ahead of Jake Long. A top flight quarterback is the most important piece you can add to your team, period.

Of course, drafting a quarterback, or any player, is never a sure thing. If Tom Brady had been drafted first overall it would have been logical in hind sight; but had he torn his ACL and never gotten a chance to start, the GM who picked him would have been fired. If Ireland had picked Donald Thomas in the 3rd round it would have been a great value pick, but the move would have been trashed by us here. I think people oughtta realize that before that criticize a front office.

Unless it's the Raiders FO. Al Davis is effing crazy. Also the Redskins.
