If they moved, remained the Dolphins and took all their history with them, I would probably follow them. If they changed their name, and left the history in Miami, I would not follow them to Los Angeles.

Billings, MT is one of the few towns in the United States that makes Miami sports fans look loyal.
The more Ive thought about this the less I would mind it. In fact, it could have advantages for me. Our home games would all be at 415 unless its a night game. Thats fine with me. I like that better. If I go to a game in Miami, it requires a flight anyway, so nothing wrong with flying to LA.
The only negatives would be that traveling from West to East and playing at 1pm has been shown to be a disadvantage for those teams. Also, what about the rivalries? Could they really keep the phins in the AFC East division if they moved to LA? I doubt it. Realignment would be necessary. We would miss out on beating the Jests and the Bills twice a year. Also someone would have to move out of the west. KC would be likely. That kills some big rivalries they have. They would likely go into the north or south division and push one of those teams into the east to fill our spot. If they kept us in the East, that would be 3 road games where we would be at a big disadvantage, especially if they were 1pm games.
OK since there has been a barrage of articles/comments about the loyalty of the Miami fan base it lead me to think about this question:
Ross packs up the team and heads out of Miami to L.A. but as in the case of Cleveland the records/name etc...stayed with the city of Miami, just like in the case of Cleveland/Baltimore.
Would you root for the team where it moved (say the team becomes the Los Angeles Condors for arguments sake) or would you continue to root for Miami as an expansion team like in the case of Cleveland?
I would have to answer this question with root for Miami, my loyalty would stay with the team history and all the past moments that defined the Dolphins over my 30 years of being a fan. Obviously this would be a total pain in the *** if it occurred but this would present a huge problem philosophically, root for the entire team of players who defined the Dolphins one season and are now a completely new team the next season or root for the past that defines the Miami franchise as the Dolphins we loved for years.
IDK - but let's hope hypothetical is the way this debate stays forever.
As long as they kept the Dolphins name and uniforms...which I think would fit LA, I would surely root for them....It would be nice to see my favorite team play in front of REAL fans, who actually GO to the games, and CHEER for their team....
It's truly absurd that in our Monday Night opener half the stadium was empty, and there were probably just as many Pats fans as Dolphins fans....
Random arguement #1 "Well if they WON we'd come out!"
First off, I call Shenanigans, because even when the Dolphins were winning in the 90s I saw a lot of Orange seats in the stands....Second off, Denver, a team FAAARR worse off then us, with FAAARR less expectations packed their house on the same night....
the fans in Miami are pitiful, and it would serve you all right if they moved the team to LA. I for one would continue to be a fan if they retained the name and logo....
PS No offense to you real fans from Miami that actually do go out and support, the Big Poppa Pumps of the world etc...it would really be too bad for you guys; and I'd hate to see it happen, but the majority of fans from your area are terrible
It's not just in Football either; in the NBA FINALS, you had a team in the FINALS, with 3 of the BIGGEST SUPERSTARS in the world on your team; and fans from DALLAS came in that building and OWNED YOU GUYS!!??? how does that happen in the FINALS!!!???
Guess your too busy snorting raw coke off strippers ***** on South Beach to be concerned with sporting events...and if that's the case, I guess I can't blame you...but don't be mad when you don't have any more teams
Hell if people think Miami fans are bad wait till they see LA fans. I think LA had the worst attendence of all the usFL TEAMS. Tampa and Jville really supported those usfl teams.
Lakers fans are pretty damn good they pack their house EVERY night....Dodgers fans beat Giants fans damn near half to death....I'd say they have a leg up on the Miami "not so" faithful
and did you really bring up USFL??? lol...jesus
they LOVED the Raiders, and were WILD fans for Raiders games; teams were scared to play there...
the reason both teams moved from la is that the stadium needed renovating and did not have enough luxury boxes. The rams also moved because the stadium seldom sold out and was blacked out on tv because of this all the time. not sure of attendence with raiders. I mentioned the USFL because i remeber how empty that stadium was with a team that included Steve Young and alot of other pretty damn good players. lakers do draw well but the history of miami fans in football is way above the support that LA ever gave the rams or raiders.
