Ok let's say we're in the 2006 draft and somehow we have our selection and Matt Leinhart is on the board (not sure of the condition, say we trade for someone's pick prior to the season and it turns out to be the 1st overall, we come in last place, or people pass up on Matt and he falls to us, whatever you choose!). Well, anyway do you draft Matt Leinhart, or trade down, and why?

This will cause some havoc. :rofl3::rofl3:

I like D'Brickashaw Ferguson a bunch too, I think he's going to be a great LT for somebody. I won't be upset if we draft Leinart though. Rodrique Wright would be a solid reason to trade down too. The three above positins are all need picks and good value picks.

I don't really see what there is to debate here. Our current quarterback situation is poor at best, and in this situation the best QB prospect in the draft is on the board. I don't see how you could possibly argue against taking Leinart.
If Feeley does show a lot of potential this year I guess it would be reasonable to try and draft a franchise LT, but hopefully Houck can turn Carey into one

What if Feeley throws for 3,000 yds, 22 TDs and 15 INTs and we are 8-8? Those are about the #'s Hasselbeck put up last year. But he's always getting creamed by V. Carey's inablity to protect against a quick end. If your getting good play from the Qb and you have worse needs I can see trading down to get a bigger need at another position. But I have feeling our Qb play this year won't make this a choice a major problem.

I'd probably draft him.

More realisticly though I can see us possibly taking Chris Leak if he enters the draft this year.

i dont like Leinart hes doesnt have an arm that would throw downfield. i rather pick up a LB or a DB real low in the 1st round

draft him. there's no question about it, and this thread should be deleted ;). you don't pass up on a chance to obtain a signal-caller (with our QB situation) that up to this point has looked flawless. and so far, there doesn't look to be a QB that will compete with him for the top-pick. 4 years of college experience, impressive stats, many wins. that's all too good to pass up, even if there are some questions about all the help he has.

furthermore, in order for us to keep feeley around, he's going to have to play to a degree that will silence ALL of his critics, because his contract escalates after this season. if we're not 100% sure, he's our guy, we're going after someone else.

You have to put up Feeley's hypothetical #'s to get a truley educated reply. I think it totally depends on how good Feeley does. Would you rather have one Matt Leinart or TWO Pat Surtains?

Draft Matt Leinhart! Did you see him last year hes got a Cannon for an arm.

Ryan leaf had a stronger arm than Manning. just remember that.

Draft Omar Jacobs!! He will be the man!! Smart, great arm, fast and mobile, and did I say smart? 41-4 TD-INT ratio! And doesnt have even a tenth of the talent that Leinhart is surrounded by...

Nasty

You trade down. That's how you ruin the cap and the team. We can't afford to sign Brown at #2 this year and then sign Leinart next year.
