Here is the scenario:

Dolphins have the worst record going into Week 17. A win knocks them out of the #1 overall position. With only seconds left on the clock, down 2 in the red zone. A FG wins it.

What does Flores do?

What would Shula do?

What would YOU do?

(If you were at the game, would you run on the field and block the kick yourself?)

There is literally no good reason to go for the win there. I would even argue that you’re actively hurting yourself by winning that game and missing out on Tua.

I wouldn’t even send Jason Sanders out. I run the worst called run, like a naked pitch or something, fully knowing it’s going to get smashed. Then I play dumb for the rest of the offseason and sprint that card up for Tua.

Shula never would be in this position. Most of his poor teams were a result of catastrophic injuries. Even all the WFL defections didn't cause a huge dropoff.

Shula was then what Belichick is now: He found talent and he adjusted the X's and O's of his coaching to suit the best talent he could find while maintaining the same level of mental toughness and discipline.

Look what he did with the 1970 team? Turned the franchise around in no time.

He was a genius. They only come around once in a generation.

What does Flores do? Lose

What would Shula do? Ask for a trade back to the Colts

What would YOU do? Root for Cleveland while eating ice cream on the sidelines and not giving a **** about the game.

New coach trying to instill a culture of winning blows game on purpose, loses all credibility with his current players and any free agents that he might have wanted to go after. He would lose more than just a game.

Those are things you have to consider if you purposefully throw the game.

Why does it matter. The goat is gone. Prob be a high snap and the middle of line is busted thru on top of it. Holder is killed while still trying to get ball down

This is really a tough one. If he ordered the QB to kneel, maybe that could have longer term consequences, but calling a run might not. At this point, even players would understand what needs to be done, I think, and would be OK with the short term pain for the long term gain. Losing out on Tua at the very end of the season for a meaningless win after everything they did and went through would be brutal.

It would be a very tough spot for Flores, and even though this exact scenario is unlikely, I'm sure he will face some tough decisions in the last few games of the season around this whole "tanking" thing.

Didn't Gase do that last year and everyone accused him of throwing the game?

Have to go for the win. As a fan I would hate that, but I would understand it.

Flores would look very bad if he claimed we weren't trying to lose and then did that.

Just call a pass to Parker or Gesicki and boom, 2020 1st pick is ours

1. Shula - Let's be real here, as Bum Phillips said "He could take his'un and beat your'un, then turn around and take your'un and beat his'un." Shula was the GOAT. No way he would ever be in that situation. He only had like 2 losing seasons EVER. Yeah, impossibe that Shula would be in that scenario. OTHER.

2. Flores - He's almost completed his goal of tanking to get his franchise QB ... why on earth would he change course now? He Tanks!

3. Me - Pffffft, like Flores this is by design, and I'm almost at my goal. I complete the tank! Then rebuild with a team of talented young draftees led by my young franchise QB.

Shula would call up Adam Gase & get his advise since his teams were so adept at getting the ball in the end zone. You know...phone a friend.
