I almost feel bad for Young....almost...

This really is all about Dan! I'm watching on the NFL network and all they can talk about is Dan (rightfully so). I guess a very small portion of me kind of feels bad for Steve....
 
Steve would have had major props if he was inducted in any other induction cerimony. I'm sure he probably had a DOH! moment when he realized he was going in at the same time as Dan.

You wouldn't know that if you watched ESPN all week. It's Steve this, Steve that.
 
IMHO, I don't think Young should have even made it this year. Made it? Yes. But not this soon.

Aside from that, I respectfully say that his father's intro speech was terrible. Whatever spin he was trying to put on it, he did a terrible job and it almost came off more as a Dad who could never be satisfied.
 
I agree his dads speech was horrible and painfully long.

His repition of " canton seemed a long way away" got quite annoying

I didn't, young was a jerk in his speech. His only aknowledgment of Dan was, "hes taller than me." On the other hand, Dan included Young in his speech by praising his greatness. I was happy to see that even if you win a superbowl, you will still be holding a clipboard when on the same stage as DAN! HA HA!
 
A lot of you guys seem to hate Steve Young. To go as far as to say that Trent Dilfer is as good as Young was is preposterous! Young could hurt you with his feet as well as his arm. Granted he had Jerry Rice on his team but you can't take away his desire, patience, and drive. I think Marino was better than Young, not just because I'm a Dolphin fan but because I'm a football fan and Dan did things no one else will ever do. You have to give Steve Young his due though, you guys act like anyone can get into the hall of fame.

Yep....worst speech in many a year for a great player such as Steve. It was made painfully obvious when Dano spoke & then The Man himself. It was all about Dan, which is what today should have been about, whenever he would have gone in.
 
i didn't feel bad for him at all - in fact my respect for him diminished today - i saw dan and the fans steal steve's thunder today - did you notice how much he made it a point to say that nothing in his life including the hof ceremony will compare to winning the superbowl - sounded like a passive-aggressive stab to me...

Oh, come on. Some of you guys are acting like you want to start a fight with San Francisco or something. Young got into the hall of fame and for him the greatest time was winning a super bowl. Have you seen the footage? The man held the Lombardi trophy like it was his firstborn, he hugged and kissed it and you could just see that passion in his eyes. One of my favorite quotes in sports was when Young held the trophy in tears and said "it's ours and no one can take it from us." The Super Bowl was a big thing for Steve Young, I'm 100% sure that he didn't mention it to throw it in Dan's face.
