I think the Daunte is far and away the best QB in Miami since Dan Marino and that he is far and away the best QB on our roster. Why? I'll tell you why and cite examples (I can't believe I'm going to spend this much time on a message board post, I'm pathetic.)

I'm not going to tell you about the things Daunte has done before Miami, you all already know that he is a proven, accomplished (but not perfect) player. I'm also not going to tell you that he is the best QB in the league or even in the AFC east. I would take a Tom Brady or a Donovan McNabb or a Jake Delhomme (The most underrated player in the NFL IMO) over Culpepper.

Daunte has a CANNON, he can throw the ball very far and hit a very small target without a problem. Remember last week on 3rd and 22(?) when he hit Chris Chambers on a long out pattern? The Steelers (a top 3 defense) KNEW we needed 22 yards and they still couldnt stop us, Pep put the ball right between the numbers and Chris made the catch and stepped out of bounds. Very few QBs possess the ability to make that throw (including Joey Harrington, sorry kids). At least five times per game I am amazed at a throw he makes.

Daunte makes good decisions most of the time. Under the same situation, most NFL QBs probably wouldn't have been sacked as many times as Daunte was today. Instead, they would have throw 3-4 picks. Daunte doesn't try to make something out of nothing. I'll admit he is a little slower on his reads then he should be, but I think that will improve once he shakes off the rust from not playing last year. Maybe it won't, he's still better at making reads then Harrington. My family lives in Detroit, I've seen Harrington under center and he REFUSES to throw the ball deep, he looks at his check down guy BEFORE his 1st receiver.

Dolphin Nation needs to acknowledge that the blocking today was horrible. Dolphin Nation needs to acknowledge that we lost the game on Special Teams today, between our blocked punt and Moorman pinning us down inside the 20 on EVERY PUNT. Dolphin nation needs to acknowledge that the Bills actually played well.

The blocking will improve, Daunte's reads will improve, and things will get better. We will finish the season 9-7 with Daunte at QB and you will all love him again. I said the same thing about Saban last year when we were 3-7 (check my sig). Talent always prevails, and this is no exception.

Well if he keeps playing like he did the past 2 games he will definitely be "far and away"

He may be great but our record is 0-2 and he still makes stupid decisions in throwing the ball.

we lost this game in all phases. Cpeps knee is the prob hes not 100% confident in his knee. physically and mentally. He can throw the deep ball but his knee is preventing him. the one deep ball he threw to chambers was under thrown and incomplete. its the knee man its the knee.

Great....a 9-7 season, missing the playoffs once again. Glad we brought in this Culpepper character. Thing is, next year, our defense will be older, (we're tied for 2nd oldest defense now), and unless we make some major revisions, we're looking at several years before being in serious contention again.....oh well

Sometimes you guys make me sick. Daunte is not 100%. Most of you wanted him to play before he was ready, now just don't understand. Just get of his back. This is not the Phins year. It's just year 2 of a plan. Live with it.

He WAS great. His confidence is completely shattered and confidence isn't exactly something that you can work on in practice.

Stupid decisions in throwing the ball? He doesn't make that many. At least he took all those sacks instead of forcing the ball and making 2 or 3 interceptions...

I want to agree with you and i know daunte used to be a real good qb but right now i am doubtful. For one thing you said the reason he got sacked so many times was because he doesnt force passes, so im taking it that you missed the pass he threw right before the half because that might have been the worst pass i ever seen there was three guys that could have picked it before it came close to a dolphins player and that was a huge play that changed the game. Daunte just looks slow and he is holding the ball to long. If he doesnt want to force it atleast throw it away and i saw a ton of open recievers he could of got the ball to today. I think we should give harrington a shot just to try something new becuase we look terrible right now. I want culpepper to do great and i think we can but it looks like he is limping out there and i think we might have rushed him back to fast from his injury.

I do feel that the fins will have a strong finish ...and maybe make the playoffs ... remember that we have new off coordinator and defensive coo . as well as new qb .

Insightful, great post:rolleyes:
Okay, let me break it down for you then smart guy. You say he has a cannon for an arm correct?! What's the frikkin point if the guy doesn't see his wide open receivers?? You say he makes good decisions most of the time? Why then did he throw 2 key interceptions (one of which was returned for a TD), possibly altering the outcome of BOTH games?? You say he doesn't try and make something out of nothing?? Why didn't he just throw the ball out of bounds when inside the 20 instead of lobbing it up in the air in the viscinity of 2 Bills defenders? Oh, and being pinned inside your 20 doesn't mean anything. If you have an effective qb, that shouldn't be an issue

9-7?

Ok if your telling me 9-7 is the ideal record for this year then i might as well kill myself... We have the talent on offense and defense to be a 10-6 11-5 team but the o-line needs to step it up... There is no excuss for 7 sacks none... Interceptions in the red zone will never ammount to a win...If it comes down to it and we have another one of these 9-7 years and miss the playoff then we need to take a long look in the mirror and wonder wat in gods name can we do to win... cause i'm sick and tired of these eagles fans where i live on my back... I need these year just to shut some mouths so dont give me 9-7

The issue is that he missed pretty much a whole year of football.

There is something called 'gamespeed' which is your ability to recognize and process what you see at the same speed as those you are playing with.

I missed a whole season of soccer and when I returned I was getting rid of the ball too soon or having it taken away form me because I the game seemed to be going so fast and others seemed to be reacting to my moves too quickly for me to make a good play. About 4 weeks later I seem to have more time before someone closed the gap on me, and I was able to see further down the field. No-one slowed the game down. I was able to process and react quicker.

Baseball players in a groove describe the ball as slowing down and getting bigger. Clearly not a physical reality but a matter of perception and processing.

Dante has played at a higher level before, and will get there again soon.

As do the Bills. Oh, and a new HC and GM, too and 5 rookies on defense.

Culpepper is terrible. He looked bad out there.
