... for Ayanbadejo, plus a player. That is almost as surprising as Perry getting cut. I continue to be humbled every year by surprise cuts that surprise all of us on the board. I guess I have a lot to learn about what constitutes business decisions in the NFL. But one thing I do know is it is all about the green.

really? why?

Ayanbadejo was a Pro Bowl reserve as a special teamer, and filled in well at LB for us.

John Owens is nothing at all special. I would have been disappointed if it was just a straight up trade.

Do you know the draft pick?

I confess I know nothing about Owens. Would be curious about the draft pick. I expected him to be outright cut with no compensation. I guess that is why I was surprised.

I assume your talking about Brendon getting cut without compensation, I actually thought there was a slim chance of him making the team. He is great on STs and he also servicable at LB.

I dont know too much about Owens, but if we're going to take 3 TEs on the team then I'd assume they would be McMichael, Diamond and Lee, and not Owens.

I don't know the pick... I would guess at around a 6th.

Brendan is a good special teamer, and for a sales pitch.... we threw him to the wolves against the PATS, starting at MLB I believe ( Zach was out ).
Suprisingly he played great and even got the clutch pick to seal the win.
He was also all over the kick/punt returners as well that night

Brendon played on the outside in that game, but he did play well. (Pope played Mike, and, IMO, got abused by the Pats).

But you are right, he is a good, solid player. It just happens that we have some really nice talent and depth at LB.

I don't think Lee will make the team. That's why the trade. Unless I am surprised again and Holmes makes the team instead of Owens.

I disagree, I think that Lee is just as good a blocker as Owens, and a much better receiver.

you might be right. I don't know much about Owens either. Just don't think the coaches are impressed with Lee but that's pure speculation on my part.

Seeing as how there were only 2 teams ahead of them with dibs on the waiver wire (not counting us, of course), my guess is that there was another team in the mix here.

Lee doesn't block...he crushes people.

On mulitiple TE set's one of the TE's going to do the dirty work. I can see 4 TE's on the roster.

Lee can't catch or stay onsides.
Lee CAN catch, and when he gets going he rumbles down the field and can get big gains.

the drops and the penalties come down to a lack of concentration.

I agree, you have to wonder if Wannspiel would have gotten anything let alone a player and a draft pick (BTW, i think it is conditional, which means, that chances are he wont meet the specifications)

the pick makes up for manny wright. So we wont miss a pick next year
