I'm back on the Chris Long Bandwagaon and here's why....

I am officially ack on the Chris Long Bandwagon. I was starting to think Jake Long might be the way to go but now I realize that Chris Long has to be our pick.

You arent going to find a harder worker in this draft than Chris Long. He hasn't gotten to the top because of his name, or his dad's name. Chris Long is a very versatile Player and showed that he can drop back into coverage and play the OLB position as well as the DE position in the NFL. He is one of the Few ELITE players in this draft, along with McFadden, J. Long, and Dorsey/Ellis. I would have to compare him to Demarcus Ware or Shawn Merriman if i had to compare him to anyone in the NFL. Like Merriman, Long weighs 272lbs and Long is one inch shorter. Both played DE in college and went to a 3-4 defensive scheme (if we drafted Long). They both have the motor skills and the ability to put pressure on the QB as a Blitzer and can get to the QB. There is NO character issues with Long and has shown to be an amazing Leader on and off the field. Chris is one top of many team draft boards IMO and should be on top of ours. He is the type of guy who deserves the #1 overall money. It is hard to project peoples future in the NFL but Chris Long looks like the real deal and i would rather pay him the #1 overall money than to a QB that had a 40-60% chance of flopping, or a OT that could possibly be only a RT (i think he will be a LT though) or a DT with injury issues (Dorsey).

He tested out as being explosive, but I don't see much of that on the field like I do with Vernon Gholston. All I know is that I'm glad that I do not have to be the one to make that decision.

i dont see gholston being as good as Chris Long in the NFL. He tends to run himself out of plays and not be a factor at times and i think he dominated guy with his strength which he cant do in the NFL when Long has alot better technique and is always in the play, kinda like how Zach Thomas is always around the ball carrier and making the tackle. Dont get me wrong i like gholston alot (i am an ohio state fan too but i like long alot better and is less of a risk at #1 overall.

I know this has nothing to do with anything... but I love the fact that he's rocking a Carhartt stocking hat in that video, lol.

ya i know me too. someone wearing carhart make me think of a hard worker, seriously. carharts are made for people who do alot of dirty work and are tough clothing....its awesome..

I think he is the only player worth spending a #1 overall money on him.

J. Long-many say he is only a RT, tooooo much for a RT (i think he oculd be a LT though)
Dorsey-injury prone-tooooooooorisky for the #1 money
Ryan-tooooooooooo risk to pay 60 mill to an unproven QB

 That's the same thing that ran through my mind when I saw the Carhartt! I agree with everything you said above... I was on the C.Long bandwagon from early on, and I've since said I'd take either Long... which is still true... but I think I'd be MUCH happier with C. Long.

playing DE on a 3-4 defense will do that to you

14 sacks from a 3-4 DE doesn't impress you? umm... ok

27 sacks from D. Thomas impressed me.

One of the finest players in University of Alabama history, Thomas smashed many Crimson Tide defensive records, including sacks in a single season. He was awarded the Butkus Award in 1988 after a season which saw him record 27 sacks along with finishing 10th in Heisman Trophy balloting. He was also selected as a unanimous All-American at the conclusion of the 1988 season. He was awarded the Sington Soaring Spirit Award by the Lakeshore Foundation. This annual award is named for University of Alabama football legend Fred Sington.

a carhart hat?

really?

worked out as a DE at the combine.
than a LB at his pro day.

interesting to say the least.

is he lifting weights yet, or does his thumb still hurt.
I thought he weighed in at 267 at his pro day.

I think you will all be shocked when we don't pick up this guy.

perhaps I will be shocked when we do though.

I agree...when you compare C. Long to any of the great Linebackers that have played in the NFL...and played great in college...he pales to them. When you think about L. Taylor or D. Thomas...and where they went in the draft...C. Long shouldn't be even close to the first pick.

Its not the sacks that make Long great, its the constant pressure he puts on the QB and the fact that he is always making his presence felt. he is always around the ball carrier making the play
