The year that we chose Jake Long we were in need of OL help. WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE! How many Pro Bowls has Long been to since he got on the team. Could we please put this to rest. :err:

Me too, but people love to toot their own horn. :(

Of course, this thread gives them another opportunity to do so ...

Nothing gets rid of Jake Long/Matt Ryan discussions quite like creating another Matt Ryan thread....

Who's Jake Long's competition for pro bowls at left tackle in the AFC anyway? It's one guy... Joe Thomas. Then there's another guy or two who are all interchangeable...

Now.. who's Matt Ryan's competition for pro bowls at quarterback in the NFC? Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, Mike Vick, Matt Hasselbeck, Eli Manning, etc.. he had Kurt Warner and Brett Favre for a couple of years.

Now here comes Josh Freeman, Sam Bradford, etc...

If Jake Long's pro bowls had ANYTHING at all to do with being the right pick... Miami wouldn't be trying to trade for Kyle Orton.

There are some on here that want to bare his children.

Not me. But I think he's going to "Kiss da baby" this season, and choke under the high expectations being bandied about here in Falcons land.

i dont know why this argument keeps coming up

Imagine we got Matt Ryan instead of Jake Long? Sure we might have a couple more wins but we would have worse draft picks on the way and we would probably have the worst OL in the league, we would not have won a super bowl because we would still not have the necessary pieces,

At least Jake long has been the better talent in their respective careers so far, without Jake Long, Matt ryan would be getting sacked every play and the running game even with ronnie and ricky would've been the worst in the league

Seriosly.. the OP says he is sick of hearing about Matt Ryan.. I haven't heard any Matt Ryann talk in MONTHS until this thread..

But even before Ice's PO meltdowns
(conceded though that we likely would never have been in a position to sniff Jake either)

Dude. I completely agree. People just dont know. You see Jake launching them 70 yard touchdowns last season?

You can win with a Pro Bowl QB and a good LT. As the Miami Dolphins are proving, winning with a ProBowl LT and a not so good qb aint too much fun

Yep... In fact, they have professors and scientists working 'round the clock as we speak trying to figure out what the explanation is behind the fact that Matt Ryan can even get a single snap off without Jake Long in front of him...

...meanwhile, Miami has had more quarterbacks hurt, put out for the season, and benched since Jake Long has been here than any other team in the AFC...

The Dolphins apparently need an offensive line resembling the Redskins "Hawgs" of the 80's just to evaluate a quarterback... much less draft one...

wasnt much convo on it until this discussion. im ok with either guy but Qb is the most important position on the field. When teams win superbowls its very rarely because of their awesome LTand we can talk all about his playoff record but at least he is in playoffs
