Even if we don't make the playoffs. I still like our team.

We have a VERY good foundation laid out already. We just need a few more pieces of the puzzle and we can easly be a top AFC team next year. I also like our coaching staff, despite all the nah-sayers around here. I like Coach Sporano and how he (and Parcells) has built the team up from the 1-15 team.

Really this thread is meant for those who are sick of reading all the negative threads about the team. I for one usually wait until Tuesday to come on the boards after a loss because of how down and out people get. And because of some of the foot-in-the-mouth threads that are posted as well.

So if we don't make the playoffs, take comfort in the fact that we have a very solid team and that here soon we will be a force to be rekconed with.

Again just my opinion, but I am sticking to it.

EDIT: I also posted this because it gets pretty old seeing the "What if so-and-so was on the team how good would we be" threads. They aren't on the team, deal with it.

I'm content with what they've done this season too..

I expected an 8-8 season and that seems to be what we'll get.

If Vontae, Sean and Chad Henne can all learn from this year and improve next year I'm thinking we'll be in the playoffs...Thats all hypothetical though!

We could easily have 3 more wins had we been a little mentally tougher....It comes with experience and you dont get experience without getting in the game and losing a few.

Looking forward to enjoying the last couple weeks of this year, then looking to 2010....GO 'PHINS!

You're right - this season, whether playoffs or not, has been a postive one. Imagine what would have happened had Pennington not gotten hurt, and they made the playoffs - how will they have improved for the future?

The ups and downs of this season proves that this team has promise, and can play physical football with any team in the league. What was meant to be another season of transition (did anyone expect them to win the championship this year) turns out to be a season with lots of answers, and I think we can legitimately say Miami is a deep threat and a safety away from being legitimate contenders.

I will never understand Fins fans as long as I live.

This season was successful? We regressed from last season and its okay with you guys?

Its not okay with me. I don't like losing, I am not okay with it. I wish like hell I could have no standards like you guys. Better yet, I wish my boss had no standards like you guys. I could totally suck and be told, "great job". LOL.

You guys amaze me. Sincerely and truly amaze me.

What about QB? What about interior line? What about NT, MLB, and OLB?

Denial...its not just a River in Egypt.

Last season we had an easier schedule and an experienced QB leading the team.

This season we've virtually had a rookie leading the team who is learning with every game he plays aswell as a pair of rookie corners and a FS who might as well not be there.

You cant win all the time, but as long as you learn from the mistakes and losses and improve, then I believe you're on the right track.

As far as being only a WR and S away from being a true force, I think we'll be needing a little more than that (ILB, DT, OLB), but hoping this off season brings a few more valuable peices.

how exactly did we regress, we lost are starting QB, half of are starting Running Back tandem, we have one player that was in are secondary is playing from last year, are starting NT from last is is also on the IR. We have 2 rookie CBs starting right now, are QB played on 1 drive last year before being thrown into action. yet we still have a very good chance at making the playoffs, and possibly a division title. and you say were regressing. yes were not gona go 11-5 but the team is playing all around better. last year we would have gotten picked apart by the Colts, the saints. for 4 weeks we averaged over 30 points a game and we regressed. if anything this team took a huge step up and a huge step toward the future.

hes to a great season. lets win out and get it done.

I agree that we have some nice pieces already in place, but I honestly dont think we can fill them all in one season. I think we have too many holes to try plug in one off-season and since the Fins seem reluctant to splend big on FA's, it could be another 2-3 seasons based on good drafting before the Fins become a real force again in the NFL.

I agree with the positive posters on this thread. We are very close to being a perennial playoff team. Yes we are lacking in certain areas of the field (ILB, and real go to WR and maybe S) but overall the team has performed very well considering how many ley players we lost. How many teams would even be close to the playoffs after losing their starting QB, starting RB and starting NT? Not many in my opinion.

I for one am disappointed with some of the losses that could have (should have) been wins but that is just a sign of a young team that needs to mature.

I predicited an 8-8 record this year. I do not see it as a regression from last year considering our schedule this year.

You don't see it as regression to lose more games one year than you did the previous? Seriously? Wow. I don't think you know what you are looking for.

This is correct. We are going to have to draft very well for 3 more seasons and hope and pray we get a QB that doesn't throw INTs regularly.

By that time are going to need two running backs, two new OLBs, two S, a NT, two ILBs, a #1 WR and probably three new OL.

This team is soft. They are aren't killers. They don't finish (hello New Orleans, Buffalo).

And in all of this rebuilding, I still think we need to look for a franchise QB. Henne continues to show me each week that he is probably not the long term answer. No way can a QB throw that pass he threw in OT yesterday. Never. Cannot happen. That was horrible, which pretty much makes him worthless. Perhaps in two more seasons he can improve, but he just doesn't seem to me to be smart enough.

It is incredible to me that you believe that this season the team regressed. It shows a complete lack of understanding of the level of competition. It shows the inability to understand that the year after winning a division is considerably more difficult than the year you won the division. It shows the inability to understand improvement in the level of talent level on this team. It shows that you actually (LOL) believe this team has underachieved. I expected that the record would be somewhere between 5-11 and 11-5 this year. It all depended on how the rookie corners matured. Guess what. They played like rookies, and we are still 7-7. That is a credit to the team.

Am I happy about being 7-7? No. Am I capable of understanding whether we moved forward or backward as a team? Yes. Are you? Obviously, not.

Thank you for making my point for me. All you understand is wins and losses. You actually believe that the analyst that stated that Miami had a lot of breaks last year to get to 11-5. You actually believe it was talent that got us there instead of no injuries, weak opponents, turnover breaks, and good coaching. Last year's team played way over its head and exceeded all expectations. A good analyst does not expect the same performance and luck with a more difficult schedule.

I agree 100%

This team is undoubtedly a deeper, younger and tougher team than we have seen in years. They are a stronger force from 1 to 53. They are for the most part tough as nails and I don't see any quit in them. It is only a matter of time before we are a perennial AFC championship contending organization. If you don't see that the philosophy, attitude and aura has completely changed from what it was only 2 or 3 years ago, then I don't know what in the hell you are watching. This is exciting stuff for us to be witnessing people! Stay the course.

Your definition of regression is obviously very limited dude. Regression is not simply a matter or wins and losses. You need to take the whole picture into account (injuries, schedule etc) and how the teams does in the face of those problems.
