With our team being banged up with a few injuries, I can see Ross defending Philbin if we continue to lose games. He will make excuses as the losses pile up. Hell, he'll probably give Joe another extension.

Nah, $114 mil is too big an investment to be messing around with Ross's money. This will be serious.

Philbin got the extension to avoid a lame duck situation, its standard practice

I doubt Ross defends Joe again if it's apparent he's blowing it.
Joe's been given quite a lot to work with lately. Hickey/TBaum addressed not all but many team needs, I would say far more and at a higher price than most teams care to do.
Joe likely made the call to stick with his OLine.
Joe got to keep Coyle.

If he fails again, this is 4 years in a row not making the playoffs, taking over from a regime that made the playoffs once in 4 years.
Ross will look like a fool around the NFL if he keeps him. Will also likely strain the relationship he's built with Tannenbaum and Hickey, keeping a guy around who's not getting things done.

Didn't we just get an article about Joe finally getting "His guys?"
I beginning to wonder if I'm a bad fan these days, or am I just tired of getting my chain jerked with this team. I'm finding that if Ross says Joe is his guy, then why am I still following blindly?

How many excuses can Ross possibly make for one man? If he retains Philbin after another failed season he should just go ahead and sell the team...

Garbage roster needs more than a hc, it needs full rebuild

Philbin is clearly out if the team doesn't make/win in the playoffs. Ross has made that clear.

A standard dumb practice. It makes no difference in the sceme of things coaches are not fooled into thinking well he has job security and neither are players.

I dont think Ross makes anything clear

I hope he does sell, he constantly rewards mediocrity

I don't think Philbin is the issue. Our team can't tackle, can't run the ball. Can't get to the QB. How is the blame on Philbin.

Philbin does not seem to have the team prepared. They are flat, listless, and emotionally detached. Philbin is directly responsible for keeping Coyle and consequently the unispired defense schemes.

IDK guys, Seattle is 0-2, Indy may go 0-2, Dallas has no stars, Phily is 0-2. NFL is upside down.
what does bother me are he same problems from week 1 happened in week 2. I didn't expect the injuries we have. Guys dropping like flies. Also, we were outcoached and had a 6-10 point swing at the end of the half.

Guys
I would start preparing for the worst. Did you see Jason Fox manhandled and the fact we cannot run the ball? Two games in and we cannot stop the run and 3rd down defense is still not good. I know we all had high hopes but if the lines aren't playing well, how can we be competitive? Can someone explain to me what can be done? If the talent is not on the line, how can we move on?

Did NE start 3 rookies again on the line?
