I've realized lately that when I think of the draft I might spend a minute or two analyzing the first round and then hours analyzing the second round. I'm pretty much okay with anyone we take in the first round because we have so many holes to fill and a coach with a new mindset, but in the second round....
Man, we might still get Ryan Kalil with our first pick in the second round. This draft is also very good at receiver and a guy like Sidney Rice or Anthony Gonzalez could fall to the #60 pick but there was also a guy I really liked, Daymeion Hughes (corner from Cal).
Basically, what I'm asking for is the name of good players (especially at wide receiver and corner) that will fall to the second round. I'll admit I don't know too much about this draft class and I'm just trying to get educated. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and what about Brian Leonard? Anyone think a fullback is worth a second round pick?

Brian Leonard is definitely worth a 2nd round pick. The problems is, he wants to be a TB and not a FB. He could always play the dual role Sammy Morris played for us plus Leonard has more speed and better hands.

I dont think Brian leonard is the type of fullback cameron uses. Im assuming he wants a bulldozer like he had in SD with Neal

Thanks for the feedback on Leonard. The highlights I've seen of him he's always handling the ball, pretty good pass catcher. I know he's not the Lorenzo Neal type but don't people say Cam adjusts his offense to suit whatever players he has? Maybe he's still an option.

hughes will prob go round 3 because he ran a 4.7 40 so hes out of round 2 there will be top gaurds in round 2 and maybe stanton at our first 2nd rder

In the 2nd round I would think we go OL, but none of the names pop into my head now except Kalil?

I Just Seen Hughes on the NFL Network and he's slower than molasses, he'll need help in coverage, which means a long day for the secondary.

I personally don't think so, 3rd or fourth round, that's he's worth his salt.

The fins need a running back that can get to the edge fast, Garrett wolf would be great change of pace back now that Travis Minor is in St. Louis.

As far as CBs and WRs go, the thing to remember is that Randy Mueller said he is looking for speed.

In the 2nd round, I wouldn't be surprised if the Fins took CB Josh Wilson (Maryland) with our 60th pick. He's super fast. Ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at the combine. And he's a great return man. He was 3rd in the NCAA last year with 847 yards. It would be fitting to select him with the pick we attained in the Welker trade.

Other CBs in the 2nd round:

Jonathan Wade (Tennessee). Very fast. Great CB. Will be gone by our 60th pick, but we might be able to get him with our 40th pick. But then we couldn't draft Drew Stanton.

Daymeion Hughes (Cal). Former 1st rounder now projected to go in the 2nd. Too slow. Would also cost us our 40th.

Marcus McCauley (Fresno St). Very fast. His stock is falling, and he might be there at 60. Doesn't return kicks, but if he falls to us in the 2nd, McCauley could end up being that lockdown CB we need.

Eric Wright (UNLV). Off-the-field issues. Was accused of rape. But his speed and talent make him a 2nd rounder.

David Irons (Auburn). Might fall to the 3rd round.

I don't see us taking a WR in the 2nd round. Jason Hill (Washington St) might fall to us in the 3rd and he is faster than Dwayne Jarrett (USC), Sidney Rice (South Carolina), Craig Davis (LSU), Anthony Gonzalez (Ohio State), and Steve Smith (USC).

If we don't get Hill in the 3rd, then there's always David Clowney (Virginia Tech) who is ALSO faster than all those guys. He's a proven playmaker, and he might fall to us in the 4th.

If we do take a WR in the 2nd, I like Anthony Gonzalez. Reminds me of Houshmandzadeh. And he can return kicks, too.

Other speedsters include:

WR Aundrae Allison (East Carolina) should be there by the time we pick in the 3rd round. Has excellent hands. Can also return kicks.

WR Mike Walker (Central Florida). Would probably be a reach in the 4th round, but we don't have a 5th round pick.

WR Yamon Figurs (Kansas St). Ran a 4.30 (the fastest of anybody) at the combine. Might fall to us in the 6th. Has had a problem with dropped passes.

WR Steve Breaston (Michigan) could be there in the 6th. And he is also a great return man.

WR Laurent Robinson (Illinois St) could also be there in the 6th.

The fins need a running back that can get to the edge fast, Garrett wolf would be great change of pace back now that Travis Minor is in St. Louis.

Garrett Wolfe's stock is rising. He's got speed. But he's not a 1st or 2nd round pick. More like a 5th rounder.

Eric Wright was extremely athletic in the combine workouts, but like was mentioned earlier, off the field issues may red flag him in Mueller/Cameron's book. Wright ran fas at the 40 but his Athleticism is VERY intriguing.
