But.. There was obviously something different about this team today. I've always thought that lack of motivation is what fans go to when we don't have any logical explanations of why our teams suck. But there was an obvious difference in the way the team approached the game. I saw lineman trying to finish block 10 yards down the field, I saw WR's blocking 10-15 yards down field. I saw dlineman getting after the QB, stracthing, Clawing and doing whateer they could to get to the QB, no pulling up. Vernon even got 2 personal fouls for hitting the QB and it reminded me of Campbells first presser when he said that he want's his players playing aggressive and not worrying about getting personl foul flags called on them

I know it's The Titans and they're not a good team but neither was Washington, Jags, Jets or Buffalo and we looked terrible against all 4 of them. Not sure how long the effor will last but it was good to see.

From the final 2 games at home in 2013 we have watched Joe Failbin coached teams be flat, unmotivated and undisciplined. We finally take out the trash and the team comes out and just dominates. Yeah a coach makes the difference!

the play calling was different and once we took the lead we still were pushing for more points.. I was so tired of getting a lead and then just being so conservative that we end up in 3 and outs and getting our defense in trouble

Almost every coaching staff has an expiry date on keeping the team bought in if you aren't winning, thats just a reality of sport. I knew there was a pretty good chance it was over for Philbin at the end of last season, though I thought the addition of Suh might have bought him a little extra time.

Another reality of sport is the "honeymoon period" for new coaches. The questions going forward is can Campbell keep this momentum going and for how long? And how will the team respond when they face some adversity. And there will be adversity.

At the end of the day some of these guys are working under Philbin for the 4th season in a row. They didn't respect him, they weren't getting results, and they were watching years of their careers waste away. Imagine coming to work everyday, to a boss you didn't respect who was just constantly limiting your abilities. By the 4th year of that you're probably going to lose some motivation, and I think what we saw today was an example of these players being freed of that and having fun again.

Let's see how the season plays out, but what I saw in weeks 3-4 from our team was just complete garbage. Unwatchable football.

I don't expect this intensity every week, that's unrealistic, but my goodness, remember the last time we played the Titans how we looked?

I don't believe anyone who has ever played any form of organized football, from pop warner up, could possibly agree with the title of this thread.

People who say coaches or leaders on the team, people who put out every play, don't motivate others to perform better are losers that have never played a sport in a competitive environment.

not sure if it was motivation,or just ineptitude. They have the talent, but needed to get away from the conservatism. It was time to unleash this team. We saw players develop for 4 years, but not coaching. Look at clock management - after the ineptitude against GB, we poorly manage the clock against Jax in the first half that cost us the game.

Bottom line it's a team game, coaches included. You are more motivated if you believe in each other, coaches included!

You were the staunchest supporter of Philbin around here. Do you still believe he was a great coach that was just a victim of circumstance?

The tittle of this thread is asinine.

Do you also believe the Moon landings were faked? The coach sets the freaking tone man! We went from basically a librarian to a warrior in terms of tone setting and accountability.

I don't think it really is about motivation, it has to do with more with setting the proper tone. Leading so they will follow. It's such a basic logic, but so many coaches constantly forget it. Teams generally play the way they practice.
