I don't get all the hatred towards Ross

My gripe with Ross is as others have stated that he is too indecisive. He does a lot of courting but doesn't seem to come home with a date as well. We looked bush league last offseason and it killed this season as well. He can fix it this off season with the hiring of a good gm and a no nonsense coach. Sparano seems to nice and friendly with the players and i think a good number have laid down on him. A tough no bs coach might be able to fix the team's persona.

I agree that its unfounded. Give the man a little time...I think we see a big off season this year. As far as the entertainment stuff, etc no one would care about that if we were winning. So that is silly to complain about. I think he also has done a good job on improving the stadium and the move to honor Joe Robbie is pure class.

Ross is OK in my book. Now if he doesnt do anything this off season...I am off the bus.

People take a lot of rumor as fact. The Orton cancellation, the Gruden offer.. unsubstantiated claims by our incompetent local journalists. Particularly Mando and his loose lipped sources. We don't know the entirety of those stories. What we do know is that Mark Anthony and Fergie have become owners of my team. Jimmy Buffett and Dicks Up have resulted in a nightmarish gameday experience. The Sparano/Harbaugh debacle was a mess that directly led to the year we're having which is the worst Dolphins team I have ever seen.. The Gator day which is.. a ridiculous choice designed to offend an entire city. As for not overpaying.. We're not paying Burnett and Bush more than they've been worth? Hell, Colombo is getting 2 mil. We give Slaton 1.5 to warm the bench. Soliai is getting 12 million this year.

Honestly, I want to believe in Ross. Because we're screwed otherwise. All his questionable calls can be justified if we end up with Luck and a strong coach/FO next year. I'll hail the man as a genius. But until then, nothing he has done is any good.

I wonder what you would say if he fired sparano and hired harbaugh in the offseason and we were the ones sitting at 5-1 (49ers record). I like that hes hand on. I just think he needs more time to prove himself, He cant make the same mistakes twice.

No chance in hell we would be 5-1.

Chad Henne was a terrible QB.

We don't have a Vernon Davis for TE, which is essential in today's NFL.

Daniel Thomas or Reggie Bush are not Frank Gore.

Believe it or not, San Fran has a lot more talent than we do.

As a new owner, I think Ross deserves one more chance to get this right. He has a huge opportunity here, to pump up the fan base, and fill seats next season, with a total regime change. With that said, it would totally NOT surprise me to see him f**k this up.

How about this for a nightmare scenario:

-Mangini hired as HC
-Peterson as VP of football ops.
-Ireland retained as GM
-Mangini retains Daboll, because of familiarity with offense.

Is this really that far fetched? I hope so, but the rumors about contact with Mangini really have me imagining the worst.

This is a good thread as it's about the source of the problem ... Ross's ownership HAS resulted in a ton of herky jerky moves from the celebrity comings and goings to absolutely lame drafts, bad free agency moves, apparent questionable scouting, and public relation management. The TEAM IS AN EMBARRASSMENT. That to me is the sole defining thing of the Ross era.
It doesn't even feel like the Dolphins anymore. We were always a tough, smart, superior bunch of football players. See, I don't know if Ross even literally knows the history or has a similar vision for his team. If he does, Ireland goes and you rebuild this thing asap

If I own a business I can do what I want in regards to it.

If I hire a management staff, they are running the show, but if I want
a certain thing done a certain way, you can bet I'm going to take action.

Don't like it? Pound sand.

I owner. You employee. There's nothing wrong with being part of running the show
if you own a business. I would expect an owner to be interested and involved in his
business if I ran it.

Problem is, everybody is watching in this business. Sure it's his business and he can do what he wants . . . you need to conduct your business with some ethics because your team will get ripped apart if you don't and image in the public eye goes a long way in fans feeling "embarrassed" and eventually not showing up to games.

Ross was unhappy since last offseason and he did nothing, as the owner, to correct it. He is indecisive. You think all the teams that fired head coaches, owners unhappy with them, were worried about a lockout? They made a decision and several of those teams with new head coaches are doing pretty damn good right now. Ross can't have his cake and eat it too, not in this business, not with the whole world watching as you fly around town, lying about your intentions. It is not a good public relations move.

You would be surprised how a good coach can change the team and how the team plays. Many people would have taken Chad Henne over Alex Smith . . . I was in favor of bringing in Alex Smith this offseason and people were confidant he wasn't an upgrade over Henne and that he sucked. This was a pretty good defense and we have some skill players on offense. Trust me, coaching is hindering this team more than anything . . . Harbaugh would have made a big difference.

I agree, give him more time. I don't think there should be "hatred" towards him, that is harsh. But no question he has given people reasons to dislike a few of the moves he has made. Like you, this offseason will tell the Stephen Ross story with the Miami Dolphins. I hope its a great read.

IMO he inherited this regime/mess and tried to make the most of it and zachblitz54 that right there just sent shivers down my spine...
