I don't get it?

I keep reading over and over how this is a bad team, Gase sucks, and etc. But here is the way I see it... We are 3-2 and in position to keep winning. I don't understand that, when our defense plays great and puts us in position to win, so many fans on here say "it's a bad team, our defense is the only reason we won." newsflash, the defense is part of the team. Our kicker and special teams, are part of the team. The offense that does just enough to get our kicker in position to win the game, is part of the team. Our TEAM is 2-1 in the AFC and just beat a very good Atlanta team that looks the same as the one that almost won the superbowl last year. I see a Good team that compensates for a below average offense to keep winning as a group.

New England is one forward fumble away from quite possibly being 3-3, this is the NFL, wins usually come down to the last drive. Welcome to the NFL. I'm sorry the dolphins don't excite you with a crazy offense, but we win. We have a light out defense, a clutch kicker on ST, and an offense that does just enough now that they seem to click better.

Complain about the offense all you want, but this is not a bad team. Gase has made it as simple as he can for an offense that isn't blocking and isn't catching. Patience with them, but enjoy what I see has a tremendous team effort. I'm very happy with what I see.
 
Because having faith is much more difficult than not and we're accustomed to bad things happening with our phins. People, including myself sometimes, would rather point out the negatives and complain than set ourselves up for the imminent failure that comes with getting your hopes up for a franchise that's been mired in mediocrity for 25 years.
 
I guess I'm more realistic? There are 32 teams paying millions of dollars to just win games. If the laws of math and science hold true, a team would average a superbowl win once every 32 years. If football stays around for the next 1 million years that is.

So with that mindset, a fun year watching close games with hope of improvement is good enough for me. A playoff berth with a shot at the prize is a tremendous year. I guess I'm just to realistic? I don't expect superbowls, I expect chances at success. Maybe me being a math and science major has to do with how I view success in football lol. Statistics
 
People say it's a bad team because our QB, and entire offense as a whole have been terrible. Yes it's nice to have a winning record right now, and yes the defense looks legit, but we cannot and will not sustain success with the offensive ineptitude that we've had so far.
 
You at how we have won and who we have won against. Atl was the first playoff caliber team that we have beat this year and we were horrible in the first half. The defense has given Miami a chance to win all of their games so far this season. Look at the points that the Saints put up this past weekend. We held that team to 20 points even though our offense did nothing. These slow starts are going to catch up to Miami. Maybe Miami can build on this win and second half performance. But don’t forget about the 92 yards passing performance less than two weeks ago against the Titans. The next 3 games should be wins.
 
I agree with the OP, there should be more positive vibes with our record. However, those who have seen the games understand the level of ineptitude on the offensive side is about as bad as it can get. Forget the numbers, which are historically bad, and watch how out of tune the entire offense. We have had some good moments on offense and the second half of the Atlanta game gives much needed hope that maybe our offense has found its rhythm.
 
I'm with you op, really hard to be positive this year in particular because the wins we had weren't very good wins. Until we play consistently good ball for four quarters against teams we need the beat then my negativity will turn around. Hope I see it in my lifetime
 
Everyone has a deposit of faith, some choose to bank it in negative/pessimistic ideas, some bank it in affirming/positive ideas. It is easy to tell who deals with adversity in those two areas and therefore know their bias in interpretation.
 
Uhhh did you watch the games?

Seriously, it's very easy to come in here after what was our best comeback on the road since 1994 and question all the criticisms up until this point.

But prior to the second half performance our offense had scored...what? Two touchdowns in 10 quarters? One of which was literally as the clock was expiring against the Jets? Yes, our defense has played very well...but please don't take the hindsight high road and question the very fair criticisms of what our team has been up until the second half in Atlanta.

Let's hope we can keep this momentum, and turn around the season like we did last year.
 
Getting revenge and dominating the Jets for 4 quarters would be a start.
 
How about sustaining drives, LOOK like a team that has an offensive presence...get first downs...even field goals...be competitive offensively instead of LOOKING like we are inept ...be consistent on offense because the offense has a great group of weapons...it Is so frustrating to watch rookie qb's come in and actually make plays when a veteran qb with talent around him cannot...score some damn points...would I rather score 10 and win than 30 and lose? of course...but damnit man this team should be moving the ball more and punting less...too much potential fire power to do otherwise....still can't even run a friggin bubble screen ...smh... no creativity
 
Even the best teams don't look good every play, every drive, every quarter or every game. Our current record gives us a chance to compete. I hope for, and expect improvement on both sides of the ball. I choose to be optimistic, no one knows what the future will bring.

Two parts to this. The "team" certainly appears disorganized and flat FAR too often. Casual fans notice this. Dropped passes, mental errors, slow starts, explainable obsessions (e.g., bubbles) . . . "Bad" may be overdoing it, but it doesn't look like a GOOD team. I agree, 3-2 defines an above average team and the 2H of ATL gives hope.
Sadly, there are those who seem psychologically attached to the negatives. Timmons is old and washed up. Jones will never fully recover. Tankersly was a MISERABLE pick. Gase is WAY over his head. Player A doesn't have quick feet, or player B doesn't have recovery speed. Citing positives isn't in their universe. Every positive has a dark cloud if we only look close enough. Remember in PS when our D was going to stink the place up? Or when Burke was a laughable clown who would be exposed by REAL OCs? They've been right 10 out of 5 times. To be fair, sometimes they're right (insert Pouncey), but the overwhelming negativism (e.g., Tankersly) has me dismissing their opinions out of hand. I'm aware, BTW, there have been posters claiming Tannehill is or will be "elite." I suggest you look at the evidence and ignore opinions. I've posted some of that elsewhere - slow starts. Good teams don't do that EVERY game. Not even HALF of their games. Miami isn't there yet, but I see progress and I see talent to GET to being a good team.
Personally, I see a team with enough talent to be above average and that's with TJ, Larsen, McMillan (sp), and Tannehill out.
 
The win in Atlanta was huge and hopefully something to build on. Miami played great defense, ran the ball well and got just enough out of Cutler. That's the formula moving forward and in a wide open AFC maybe that's enough to get to the playoffs.

Bad year for Tannehill to go down, though. We might actually be talking super bowl.
 
I think it was the historically inept offense until 2nd half last week. Im all for a defensive dominated team but offense still has to score here and there.

They are starting to come around, and im starting to come around as well. The defense is definitely something to be excited about.
