I don't see us looking at CB in early rounds

Next year we have 3 young Cb's to develope, Howard gone and Madison may be gone too. With that in mind and plenty on cap space, the need to compete next year would have us signing the best FA out there to have a proven vet on the field with these youngsters. a 3-4 defense needs dominating LB's and we aging quick at that position. I would not be surprised to see Saban drafting 1st round talent at LB, but still would like to see a OT as first pick if they drop.
 
we will pick up some guys, either through mid round draft, or FA....
 
Poole hasnt started yet and hes unproven. Daniels may be good and i say MAY. I wud not be confident going into next season without at least one proven CB. That IMO will come thru FA as there a few decent ones to choose from.
 
Madison will restructure his contract and stay. Poole has all the tools needed to be a good CB, but the injury to his knee leaves so many questions. Mitchelle is very fast but a project, but Saban is a defensive back specialist so I'm guessing he saw something or he would have cut him. Daniels was a great surprise this year. Whether he ends up a safety or corner he is a great addition to the team. If we draft a DB and sign a FA that should leave us in good shape, hoping that Poole or Mitchelle can contribute next year.
 
We'll definitely get a cb on Day 1 if we don't pick one up via free agency
 
Don't think any position should be ruled out on the first day except RB. Last year there were more pressing needs when we picked DE Roth in the 2nd round but Saban took the best player available. If Saban thinks a CB is the BPA on the 1rst day, Saban will draft him. Expect on the 2nd day he'll draft more for need if the first day talent didn't measure up and wasn't available.

Where we're picking at the moment (around 15?) think if CB Jimmy Williams falls he would be only CB that would be the BPA in the 1rst. Others in the 2nd/3rd round that may be the BPA are CB Jason Allen, Alan Zemaits, and Cedric Griffin.
 
jimmy Williams has lost alot of stock lately. Roth was taken last year because we had a aging dl and signed old vets. Saban also infused new DT last year. LB and S in this years draft onm defense. Offense he has to go OL, later round QB and WR
 
Madison wont be gone

Poole played very well his rookie season

Daniels has displayed mental toughness and the 'Okay you beat me once but you wont do it again' attitude he never hangs his head and should be a solid player

LB is more of a need but id rather just sign a guy like peterson as a FA since we will have cap room

Id like to go QB or LT in the first round

Agree JW may fall out of the top 10. But if their's not a QB or LT Saban thinks is worthy at #15, JW's physical play and speed will be hard to pass up.

Think Roth was a BPA pick because at draft time DT, OL, LB, & DB were bigger/as big of needs as DE. All needs he couldn't fill on the 1rst day were addressed as must picks on the 2nd. Know we only have one draft to go by, but get the impression Saban won't reach for players on the first day.
 
I completely agree with 17-0 and i think sam will stay because he likes it in miami . i think we may go with a qb, ot, or a dt in the first two rds and then work on the seconday whether we bring in a vet and a late rd pick.
does anyone think that we need to get two defensive tackles and a linebacker and one safety ?

agree! i see us picking Landry/bing in rd one or a QB. lb would be 3rd or mainly bpa btw the LB/SS position. CB comes later on such as an allen as the steal which owuld be AWESOME. look to trade booker for a C in rd 3.
