I read somewhere once where they made the point that MIA use "less" LBs on STs than most of the league. Most teams carry up to 5 ILBs on the roster, MIA only carry 3. That's right, "3".

MIA only has "1" backup ILB, and that is Torbor. Most teams have 2 backups and a 3rd stringer. Most teams use 3 ILBs on STs.

So, it is something to ponder that we have 7 slasher types and only 1 ILB with 2 OLBs on STs. We only put 3 sure tackler types out there with 7 flier types.

Maybe we need to go back to what the rest of the league does on STs....put more SURE TACKLER types, (LBs), on the field on STs.

Ninkovich will make it 4 LBs, along with Anderson, Torber, and Moses...with 6 WR/RB/DB types.

Is it really rocket science? I mean, Tony Sparano? WTF??? You get paid $$$$$$$$$ to disect this, and you lacking the OBVIOUS "ELEPHANT" in the living room. Sounds a lot like scientists out there, don't it? LOL.

Hello? Mcfly? Call up some more LBs and add a quick DE to the group and we will see that the STs will become more SURE TACKLING instead of just flying speedsters that can't tackle.

The problem isn't that Charlie Anderson, Reggie Torbor, and Quentin Moses suck....it is that there aren't enough Charlie's and Reggie's and Quentin's on the field on ST's, that's what it is.

How do I know? Because Charlie, Reggie, and Quentin were great STs tacklers last season, that's why.

So though, it's not really our coaching, but our lack of LBs that's hurting us...the coaching doesn't seem to get this, forking the bill to them just as much...

Somehow I doubt its that simple. How bout they just don't tackle well.

How many times have we had a guy somewhat wrapped up and can't put him away? I don't believe that its because a LB isn't making the tackle. And where exactly did you read this?

Cobbs seems to be the only guy who is really wrapping guys up. We seem to be out of position and then have a hard time tackling anyone. We might as well just boot it out of bounds if this keeps up.

Dude, you are actually confirming what I just stated. "LBs" are SURE TACKLERS...DBs are usually SPEEDSTERS that can cover. When you find a DB that can cover and tackle "like a LB" you've got yourself a star.

MIA has "less" LB/sure tacklers on STs than most teams in the league. Thus, why the lack of "sure tackling"???

No, Charlie and Reggie really do suck.

NO, they reall don't. Look at history, and you'll see that you are wrong. If the coaches don't realize that if they showed last season and the one before to be good STers....and not now? hello?

Look back and reconstruct your pattern. We need to "add" LBs to that crew....having only 3 there isn't enough to get the job done. You need an even amount of SURE TACKLERS and FLYING SPEEDSTERS to get the job done on STs. That simple.

Thats a great point actually. If you watch the replays from an endzone view when they show returns, you can see almost the entire unit over pursuing to one half of the field (and this is on a regular basis).

You can then see, if the returner has the ability to stop and cut back to the other side of the field...we have big problems.

Its so simple! You are so much smarter than every Special Teams coach in the NFL bro. They really should give you a call. I mean really, more linebackers, who needs speed on the field, right?

Maybe we should just have Carpenter boot the football so it goes up high and comes down like a punt around the 20.....kickoff guys on the 20 are usually blockers and not the speed guys that kill us. Or we could have our punter do a punt for the kickoffs....might as well try it as our regular kickoffs suck. :rolleyes2:

I am sorry but right now I think the slug in my back yard is about 2 points higher on the IQ chain than than OUR special teams coach. So at this point I think all opinions are welcome

Nah, I agree our Special Teams coach is a joke. I just find it funny that this clown is being condescending towards everyone who disagrees with him. The fact that he said defensive backs aren't supposed to be good tacklers unless they are superstars ruined all credibility he had. I know its a coaching problem, because all the guys here can tackle. They are missing tackles by taking bad angles on the carrier. Thats not a talent problem, its a scheme problem......

you have a point, LBs are theorically the best tacklers on a football team, if you have lesser LBs on special teams your tackling ability automatically decreases...

i don't think it's only due to this, but it's a minor factor.
