Miami keeps the #1 pick and selects DE/OLB Chris Long or DE/OLB Vernon Golston.

We'd obviosly like to trade down with a team like Atlanta or KC (for a chance at Ryan) in order to get either player in a cheaper slot (and garner additonal picks) but neither team will budge IMO. We'll be stuck at #1 and be heaviliy invested in our pick. That's why it HAS to be a can't miss pick. I think Golston has a higher ceiling but is a riskier selection than Howie's son. Chris will be no worse than a 12-15 yr pro with a few visits to Hawaii. With JT and/or Porter's days numbered in aqua and orange, Parcells and Co. pick their replacement this April 26th.......I guarantee it.

I garuantee Golston wont get picked over Long..

I don't feel an oracle, but picking #1 Vernon Gholston, over Chris Long seems a fool. We may argue ILB is hard to find and Vernon's quality is special but a #1 overall impacts on money, team image and roster leadership. That means we should select a guy who deserves all that pack. Even Vernon may become a future HOF, within our current roster that's very unlikely. So I have Long over Gholston on my draft board, and if we're keeping at first spot, he's the guy to pick.

I guarantee that you might be wrong....

Seriously, at this point in time, what you're saying here is a foregone conclusion...of course, this time last year, it was a foregone conclusion that we'd take Brady Quinn....

You're assumption that there won't be any suitors to trade down with has serious flaws in it though...I think Atlanta needs to make a splash with Ryan...I'm not a proponent of us taking him, but neither would I be surprised if we did...

Ok, if you're making a guarantee, what are you putting on the line if this doesn't happen? Your hair? Wearing sweatpants to work for a week? Your credibility?

i guarantee its a bad idea to put your neck on the line by making guarantees at this point in time!!

He should. That guy is a beast. Better prospect that Merriman when he came out. I watched him last night and that boy is dangerous. He beat Jake Long to get to the QB. I said the same thing the year "lights out" came out.....this cat has permanant residence in Hawaii.

The only guarantee is that whomever is selected by us there will be equal whining on this board about who we should have taken instead. I'll take that to the bank and get paid huge. We all may disagree who should be picked 1st but you can't disagree we will be alittle better after our selection (unless it's M.Ryan lol).

i wouldnt under estimate the power of the tuna to work a trade although i dont really see it happening i wouldnt rule it out just yet. But if we are stuck there, we take Chris Long at #1.

I guarantee the Dolphins will make a pick in the first round...maybe even two....other than that...?

Parcells is the same guy who took OLB James Farrior #8 overall after a trade down from #1. Problem is this year, there is no obvious #1 pick and as such no reason for anyone to trade up.....IMO. I don't see Atlanta paying the requisite picks to do so unless they really want Ryan and are really concerned we want him. If that's the case, they'll have to pay a King's ransom for him and.....again IMO......I don't see that. You need only go back to Parcells recent drafts in which he takes front 7 guys and is looking for the next LT (Ware, Farrior, McGinest) and this team does not possess one. Aging veterans like JT an Porter need not be considered here. I feel VERY confident in my proclamation with the knowledge I have of how Parcells builds teams and let's face it.....he's starting with not a whole heccuva lot in Miami.

I couldn't agree more.

Vernon Gholston or Chris Long will be our pick. I will guarantee it as well. I did a long time ago, just not at this forum.
