Hate that Vonte and Smith don't ever SWITCH. Smith seems like the ideal guy to gaurd Moss. I know Sporano likes them on one side and all that, but I think if you shadow Welker with Vonte (very physical player) and cover Moss with Smith and Bell/Wilson...Put Jones on thier 3rd reciver. Doesn't that make sense? Of course this is my opinion and I'm not saying I know better than a HC, but this just makes sense to me.

But aside from that I hate that Sporano only lets them play one side.

Most corners don't flip flop. This is why most o-coord typically move receivers around to get better matchups against weaker db,s. Most corners use the sideline their most used to playing to help with coverage. And some db,s aren't very good at covering slot receivers in space. A coach would love to be able to interchange db,s to cover anyone and anywhere on the field. But this doesn't usually happen in real football.

Next year, with more experience, maybe they let Smith follow Moss to either side of the field. Right now the coaches feel them switching around is just too much for them to handle.

It does seem like a great way to handle Moss though, getting a big body in front of him in Sean and having a safety over the top. I'd love to see Brady trying to force passes past Smith or even jump balls where Randy has no height advantage on the defender.

That leaves Davis to hit Welker at the line and follow him closely. The Saints really showed that if you can cover Moss and Welker the Pats have little WR depth beyond them. Of course it helps when your offense can score at will on the Pats D.

Next year, I think the talent gap between these two teams closes quite a bit more.

It's not uncommon for CB's not to swith...that is even more you want to ask from rookie Cb's.....

The reason the Saints were o effective stopping Welker was because he was always bracketed and the tackle was always made as soon as he got the ball.
