We may not be good again until Ross is gone or relinquishes complete control. Having not fired Sparano last year is a sign that this man, although a billionaire, is clueless. He does not know football. I've been calling for Sparano's head for two years now. How does this guy keep Sparano? Anyone with basic football knowledge can see Sparano can't even call timeouts right and he thinks he will be able to compete with the elite coaches in this league on strategy and in-game adjustments? Ross needs to get a general manager who isn't best buddies with the coach so they can actually give him sound, unbiased advice and opinions. If Ross doesn't do that, he won't know what to do in the future because he has shown he doesn't know what to do now or since he became owner. Harbaugh would've probably been a great coach for us, but he isn't the only guy in the NFL that would be better than Sparano!!! Are you kidding? If you can't get Harbaugh then you stick with Sparano? That makes no sense. As if he is the second choice? He will never be the head coach of a successful team in this league. PERIOD. WRITE IT DOWN. DEAL WITH IT. He is an assistant at best. If anyone knows Stephen Ross' email. Forward this to him. Go Dolphins!!

p.s. I had a bad feeling about Sparano from the start. His name sucks. A name is important. His name is a dyslexic version of Soprano. No good.
 
another rant. you are killin it ma 3/3 . . . and since when are ireland and sparano best buddies? whats wrong with his name? seriously? thanks for the monday morning quarterbacking. where would we be without it each week.
 
I love how people imagine themselves to be better at business than
guys who can buy NFL teams.

He's still in the driver's seat.

We give players two, three, four years before we write them off...
Hell, coaches have gotten longer looks than Ross.

How come Ross doesn't gain the perspective Dolphins players do?

He OWNS the Dolphins.

Hes a bad coach because his name is Sparano? One bad thread after another.
 
I don't respect a man because he makes more money than me and experience has taught me that wealth and competence can be entirely separate qualities. Everyone performs in their role. I don't like anything I've seen from Ross. It didn't take long to figure out Ray Lucas was a **** awful NFL QB. Ross has been equally awful in his role as owner. He's embarrassed our franchise and been at least partly responsible for plunging us towards new lows. There's nothing that suggests I should, but I'm going to hope for the best with how he handles bringing in the new regime.
 
Do you guys actually read the original post before responding? Jesus. How do you even sort of support these buffoons? You're a fan but you want to keep the people who coach poorly and run the organization poorly? Brilliant. You can't run a bad coach out of town if you guys keep supporting him. You can't get an owner to question his tactics(which he should be doing) without vocal criticism of OBVIOUSLY horrible decisions. These are not personal attacks on you. They are attacks on the people who are gonna make us the Detroit Lions of the eighties and nineties if something doesn't change.
 
BTW. The remark about his name was a postscript(p.s.), an aside, a footnote to the actual point of what I was saying and that is what you guys latch onto? Come on. Your voice can make a difference for this team. Use it accordingly.
 
IMO we will never be good again for another 15+ years, maybe 1 playoff apperance.

This is actually a good point, one I've wanted to raise for a little while but didn't want to start a whole new thread.

The ownership of the Miami Dolphins is a joke, it's awful and has been for a long time. It's obvious when you look at the successful owners in the NFL they are serious about football. Our owners are not no matter what they say publicly, their actions clearly show it. Forget about the celebs and nightclub for a minute. How about arriving on game day in a helicopter?

Steelers – They’re owned by the Rooneys who don’t mess around with fan gimmicks or distractions like nightclubs or celebrities not even cheerleaders. They have more Super Bowl rings than any other team with 6 and really could have 8 if not for the 2 they narrowly lost.

Patriots - Obvious example here; Before current owner Robert Kraft took over, the Patriots had only 6 playoff appearances in 33 years, appeared in 1 SB and lost it. Since Kraft took ownership? They’ve had a playoff appearance 12 times in 17 years, 5 SB appearances and 3 SB rings. Parcells went to a SB working under Kraft. Not even close under Ross/Huizenga.

Packers: - Not owned by a single owner, instead by a large group of shareholders and run by a board of directors and an elected president. You think those cheeseheads take winning seriously? They can endure the loss of Holmgren and Favre and within a few years they get another SB ring and maybe more to come. It’s obviously a system that works.

Ross/Huizenga - ZERO SB appearances during their entire tenure. 3 brief playoff appearances since Shula and Marino left. Huizenga became full owner in 1993, the last year we made it to the AFCCG was in the 1992 season. What more can you really say about these 2 clowns?

Ross has had plenty of time to turn it around and he hasn't. Hasn't even come close. Anyone defending Ross at this point is just plain wrong. I don't care how much $ he's worth or how good of a businessman he is. That doesn't automatically equate to being a successful owner in the NFL. Now it’s being reported that Ross is cheap? That’s not surprising to me. I’ve thought for a long time he’s worried about money before winning.

Miami hasn’t done anything in the playoffs since Joe Robbie owned the franchise and it’s not just a coincidence. The only successful owner we have had and Huizenga immediately took Robbie’s name off the stadium when he took over and replaced it with a company who is now defunct. If you're someone who believes in curses, (I don’t) that's the moment you can say it took effect.

The coaches and management don’t just show up out of nowhere. Ownership is responsible for putting those pieces in place. They ALL need to go starting with Ross/Huizenga.
 
Thank you fugawzi. Thank you. You get it. Spread the word. And your remarks about those successful franchises with football families behind them are dead on and what I was getting at. I just didn't wanna have to say the names Patriots or Kraft.
 
I believe he didn't fire Sparano because there was nobody worth firing him for.

Spot on!!!! I've always blamed it on these owners! Marino's lack of supporting cast...Terrible drafts for 20 + YEARS! Bad Scouting, Bad Personnel Moves, Bad Coach Hiring, Bad Trades! So Frustrating! Sell the team to someone who gives a damn, Please!!
