Do the four division winners all get a home game in the playoffs? I know the top seed gets the bye but are the other three guaranteed a home field game based on winning the division or is it done by record? If we have a better record than one of the three division winners will we get a home game?

It raises a great question though. Look at the NFC South- some team could win that division with a worse record than one of the wild cards. Dallas could get a wild card with, say, and 11-6 record, and Tampa Bay could win the division at 8-9.
And Dallas would have to play in Tampa Bay.

Always been that way. Vikings would win their division with a 7-7 record.

Division winner has always, currently does, and will always have homefield over a WC team.

Keep in mind though, a wildcard team CAN get a home field playoff game depending on how the first round plays out.

If 2 WC teams win their games and face each other, then the higher seeded WC team will host the game. It has happened before I believe.

Oh, I know that.
I'm just saying, it seems like it should merit some debate- division winners get in, but seeding goes by record or something like that. I know the NFL doesn't want to do that, they like rewarding teams who win their divisions with a home playoff game, but I think it's archaic thinking. That's just me. I'd reward teams who win more games. Dallas can't help that they're not in a crap division.

Yup 7 beats 2
6 beats 3
5 beats 4

Then 5 hosts 6
1 hosts 7

Shades of Saints at Seattle. 2010 the 7-9 Seachickens beat the 11-5 Saints.
