why not CUT cleo lemon, leavin the dolphins with 2 QBs, cpep and harrington... but while doing that, keeping vick on the team as a WR/QB.. so now you have an open spot to keep another potential at WR while having an emergency QB
 
Because it's quite possible for a #3 QB to get playing time, and Marcus Vick isnt that great of a quarterback and hasnt gotten much practice or playing time at the position compared to WR or KR.

SOUNDS like a good idea. But Vick has a long way to go to win confidence from the coaches that, 1) he can play QB at this level, and 2) and more importantly, is he going to remain a good citizen. Also, Lemon has potential and I think the coaches would like to see him develop and become possible trade bait later on, or even a backup here.

Vick wasn't even that good a QB in college. I just don't see him having any success as a pro.
 
From what I have heard the coaching staff likes Lemon..

too much to cut him. He is still in their plans.

Because Marcus Vick is not an NFL caliber QB. He's just as likely to finish the year in jail as he is to finish the year on our active roster.
 
He would have to be among the active 45 on a Sunday to be used at anything other than QB and thus in essence COST us the availability of a player on Sunday even if he does add a spot to the roster.
 
no matter how talented he is if you have him listed as the 3rd QB you DO NOT want him on the field AT ALL, for any purpose.

Ive got an idea! How bout we keep the guy who has been around for a year and knows the system as our third Qb? You can keep him off the roster once the season starts for certain games so you can play others. that way Slash can concentrate on doing his special plays that will no doubt be his role this year.
 
I'm almost positive NFL rules state once the 3rd QB enters the game for any reason the 1st and 2nd Qbs would be unable to return like pinch hitting...

for now i'd like to keep him as a backup/reserve WR who can still take snaps undercenter on a gadget play or 2.... Imagine running fake reverse bootlegs with him !!!
 
it sounds like a great idea until culpepper gets hurt (god forbid). then you're left thinking "holy bananas, marcus vick is our backup QB!!!".
 
Vick hasn't thrown once in an NFL environment. Who needs him to be a Ranle El, it looks like we've already got a guy who can run, block, catch, and throw, and his name is Ronnie Brown!!! If you don't believe me just look at the first 3 preseason games. It looks like Brown is our gadget man, and if asked I bet he could do punt and kick return, so I still don't understand why some people here think Vick is so special.
 
Marcus Vick is a good athlete, I don't think he will make it as a qb though. He' s only 6' ,I think that is too short for the NFL he probally would have alot of passes deflected even though I think he puts nice touch on the ball (better than his bro micheal). WR possible he just needs time.
 
Lemons not going anywhere, but Vicks going on the practice squad, and that`s where he`s going to stay, at least until next year.
