he has in himself. I don't think they got has it mentally. What's his excuse for the FG off the grass? There was no reason he should have missed that gimmy. He's got the tools but I think he's mentally weak.

Yes, I agree. He needs to get his mind right or hes going to be looking for a job. this is continuing from last year and its not good. We need all the points we can get.

it was a 46 yarder into the wind that he missed by 2 feet or less

And? An NFL kicker should make that kick no matter what. It's not like he's kicking into a hurricane. The wind was a typical S. Fla. wind in Sept. The hurricane was supposed to be coming tonight so that's not an excuse.

Not that it matters.. but i have found the nfl website for scores and info .. not truely reliable .. and sometimes downight incomplete or wrong...and quite possibly there are gusts given the immediate weather patterns... anything over 40 yrds is no damn gimmie regardless.so I say give the guy a break .. the whole damn team had a bad day .. time to move on.

I kind of agree with you. I mean the guy kicked it through the uprights (+70 yards) in the opening kickoff in the same direction as the missed FG. He just hooked it to the right, that's all... ;)

Anyone who thinks that a kicker should be automatic from 46 yards doesn't know a lot about kicking. A 46 yard field goal is pretty far and many NFL kickers struggle to get that. Mare is a good but not great kicker. You can get mad at him missing a 30 yarder, but getting mad over a 46 yarder is reaching because that is not an easy kick, even if it is off grass.

When did 46 yards become a gimmie?

Because his salary is the kind a kicker who is automatic from there gets.

If he was getting paid like an Aaron Elling, or even a Gary Anderson there would be no reason to complain, but Mare is one of the highest paid kickers in the league and hasnt played that way last season and now into this season.

Mare has steadily gone down hill for the last three years. He might be going bye-bye with DW.
