I have to admit daniel thomas has been running hard lately

Keep on congratulating yourself on your criticism of a back's performance when he averaged over 5 ypc.

I will pat my POWER RB on the back for doing what he is paid to do against one of the worst defenses in the league. Funny Ireland!!!!!

Power backs gets yards and run through people. Not get slammed for safties. Thomas is probably the only Dolphin that stumbles more than Hartline. You funny JI.

Did you even watch the play where he got hit for the safety? Not even Jerome Bettis and Earl Campbell combined would have been able to avoid being tackled by an untouched blitzing linebacker hitting at full speed before the handoff was even complete.

DT has been a pleasent suprise this year. He isn't an every down back, but a nice power/change up back.

I've kept quiet on the DT bashing because frankly, I didn't see a lack of production any different per touch from Miller. You can't expect the same result on runs from those two because they're different types of runners. Play-calling has been questioned. O-line play has been questioned. These play a huge role in DT production. But DT this Sunday looked like a good bruiser back compliment to Miller-at-100%. He was the hot-hand. Put in the right situations by Sherman, and blocked for properly by Misters Patchwork 1 through 5, we have a good change of pace available in the backfield.

It gave me pause when he was at the jersey unveiling earlier this year, but what it told me is that he WANTS to be here, and he wants to play better. Haters, turn your volume down, DT is trying to say something.

Excuse.

I also saw the power back against Tampa. How the hell can he be doing so good LATELY when TB destroyed our power back. Lets get this straight.

Lynch, Bradshaw, and Gore are power backs. DT cant carry their jock strap. Dont confuse POWER and short yardage back which is the role he plays because he lacks speed not because he is POWERFULL, he is also crappy blocker thats why Egnew plays FB in certain sets.

DT has looked ok when we don't run him to the outside (which we do a lot), or when we ask him to pick up blitzers

When he learns to lean forward and run behind his pads I will give him some credit. What we are seeing now is the line opening holes. I have never seen a back fall backwards so much. If he can emulate half of what Clay did on his TD romp I will buy his jersey.

This is the truth, DT has to stop finishing too high and being lifted up and pushed backwards. Running 101 is not happening.

Not sure i agree with the OP. Thomas has been running BETTER this season, but last Sun was the first time I saw him running HARDER.
My only real beef with Thomas (which is my beef with everyone not called Clay, Gibson or Matthews) is the lack of leg drive in contact. Pump those damn legs and kick your way out of the tackle. Our players are almost all very defeatist when confronted by an opponent. Wallace gave up a few yards on his first or second reception by running out of bounds rather than stepping inside and taking a hit. Hartline falls over if the wind changes direction. Miller is very soft in contact. This needs to change

When we get any sort of blocking, our backs do fine, IMO. Miller hasn't dropped a pass in weeks and he's a weapon when he can catch the ball. I think Miami still likes Daniel Thomas in there for blocking so in passing situations he offers great flexibility as he's a very capable runner as well. He's also more shifty than he gets credit for, IMO. He's got a nice spin move and some subtle shake&bake and I think his vision is improving with experience.

When we drafted him I watched the youtubes of his play at K-State and was very impressed by the way he moves. It's taken some time for him to be consistent but I think he's starting to be able to do the same things at the NFL level that he did in college.

We still overspent for him, though. We could've had him later and I doubt other teams valued him as high as we did.

I like the goal line efforts against Cleveland and San Diego. He launched himself Marcus Allen style. Pretty hard to stop that IMO.

Cant be these are not the signs of a power back or someone brining the wood as some of the earlier post suggest.
Those are the reasons we got rid of Ronnie Brown he danced in holes instead of hiting them like he did in his prime.

Well you just lost all credibility. That just shows a biased hater mentality towards him that no matter what he does...This comment will be your go to line to disprove whatever he does. The guy got drilled the second he was handed the ball and you pin that on HIM??? Wow!
We can be such a ridiculous fan base. Someone does something well and people still try to drag him down and not acknowledge someone did something good. Op stated he played a couple good games, which he HAS. He didn't say he was the second coming of AP or that he hasn't struggled.
Haters just suck something serious. Absurd!!!

Yeah, that safety really showed his hard running style. Yes, he had a pretty good game this past week but he is wildly inconsistent. He'll follow up a good game with a terrible game (although the OL fault too). The most important thing IMO is that he hasnt fumbled yet this year.

As dolphin fans we rip on daniel thomas alot but we have to admit he has been running hard last few weeks especially last night. I give the kid credit.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the more committed running from Thomas comes simultaneously with fewer fumbles and no concussions.

Thankfully Thomas got 4 full carries against TB so we could finally see definitively what he is.
