Imagine the Miami Dolphins winning this years Super Bowl with the Wildcat formation.

Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams, running wild through the whole season, with other teams unable to stop them.

Yeah, I know it's a huge long shot. But we're allowed to dream, right?

If it happened, I could die a happy man. :)

yeah we're allowed to dream....we'll get there,it's gonna take a few years due to the work that still needs to be done through a few more strong drafts and right FA acquisitions, but we'll get there, keep the faith my fellow fin fans,it'll be hard at times as we all know, but just keep the faith....

I like the possibilities of the Wildcat, and I totally respect your enthusiasm and in no way want the fact that I am less optimistic to sully your genuine faithful feelings.

That being said, I am loathe to pronounce this formation as a magic pill for all our woes.

It is not a magic pill but it is a very creative approach. It will give the defenses some extra to prepare for. and if i am understanding it correctly it exploits defenses pretty effectivily. We could be in for an entertaining season.

I am not even sure we will see it very much. An interview with Holiday made it sound like it didn't work very well in practice. I expect that if the Pats had stopped the first play, we would have never seen it again...

I wouldn't expect it alot...but we may use it near the goal line...I think that is where it could still be effective.

Yeah but teams will game plan against it and be worried about it. That gives us an edge even if we don't use it. They can only prepare for so much. This will keep them from prepping for other aspects of our offense.

I admire Dolphin fans . . and being on this site, we all are diehard Fin fans . . . but lets not get overly optimistic with this wildcat formation. It's a wrinkle . . . and we will need to continue to add more wrinkles to it for it to continue to work.

I'm glad we got creative . . but its was ONE week, one hell of a week . . . forget the Super Bowl, lets focus on San Diego . . . because they may stuff the wildcat the whole game and blow us out . . . and all of this optimism will be turned into bust and hate threads . . . we are 1-2 . . . lets shoot for 2-2 2 sundays from now

And if we are 1-3, so be it, I just want us to play good . . . execute the gameplan like Sprano said. San Diego is a hell of a team, I'm glad we have a bye to prepare for them.

I disagree next time when they go on this formation look for a fire blitz as ronnie is not a Qb who can read coverages .The second and most bad thing is look for a LB and Safety to roll to the QB and at snap to clean his clock. As he is lined up not in the pocket he becomes free game upto the 5 yrd line .Or in a 4-3 split a pass rusher to lay the lick on the QB with OL infront the qb is going to get a hit he will not forget. Most importantly no penalty .

How much you want to bet 2 or 3 shots and the QB is out for a few weeks.

the wildcat is good to keep teams off balance a few plays a game, but it is not something we can use as a base formation. to win games we need to play solid defense and have the offensive line open up holes and protect the quarterback. we are a ball control offense. it is good though that the wildcat gives other teams something else to think about.

if they try and run at our QB to purposely hurt him or inflict pain so be it. The next play I put Jake Long in the Slot (Ricky's position) and have him get a load of steam coming in motion and bury the first person in his way.

Payback is a beach

Really?!?

Is potentially trading one of their starting defensemen for our starting QB a good idea?

:lol:I'd love to play chess against you sometime.

The Wildcat is maybe going to be used 5 times a game, and more importantly, each game will set up another wrinkle to utilize. I highly doubt the Fins showed 50% of what they will do out of it so far.

I'm going to quote and high five myself because TS just said that a few hours after I posted this..lol.

I don't know if that would be an answer for the WC, remember it's an option play. Ronnie can choose to hand off the reverse to Ricky when he recognizes the blitz coming. If Ricky is able to turn the corner, that spells death to the defense with the line going unbalanced.

Also looking at the highlights, Pennington basically walked away once the ball was snapped. The one where Ricky had the 20+ yard run, I believe he threw a block because it was run to his side, but I don't think they'll be doing that much going forward. With that being said, if you have someone who obviously is not trying to engage you and the play is being run on the opposite side he is lined up on, and you clean his clock, I'm sure that'll be a personal foul for unnecessary roughness. But I could be wrong.

I love the Wildcat. There is no reason to belive that the 5 TDs could not be extrapilated out to a superbowl win. Logic dictates that since we won with the Wildcat once, it will happen that well every single time, all the way up to the Superbowl. I'm not sure what could possibly go wrong.
