Calms some of the "We've found our Franchise Staple HC and QB" Talk I've been hearing lately. The 6 game win streak was very encouraging, but to think after 6 games that we've found our future HC (including staff) and QB is very naive to say the least.

The NFL is a funny business and in my opinion, before you can say unequivocally that a HC or QB are franchise guys.. you at least have to see them perform successfully against playoff caliber teams. When I way Franchise staple HC and QB I'm talking about the Bill B and Brady, Mike Tomlin Big Ben, Pete Carroll Russ Wilson combinations of the NFL. I wan't a HC that can be here for 15-20 years and set a winning culture where we're competitive just about every year with a shot to win it all every so often.

I've been taking a cautiously optimistic approach during this win streak in reference to our HC (staff) and QB as the team's play has been very encouraging, however... the next stage in my evaluation process was\Is to see how we perform against legit playoff caliber teams when it counts and today against in my opinion a lower level playoff team, WE WERE EMBARRASSED.

I wasn't sure if we would win this game today but I thought we were past looking totally inept. I'm going to chalk this one up to just a bad day overall. The defensive gameplan was terrible and the offense couldn't get out of it's own way. Turnover, penalties dropped passes on 3rd down etc..

Bad games happen in the NFL, but today was not very encouraging. I still think Gase has us headed in the right direction and I think he deserves a couple of years to prove his worth.

Tannehill has to the end of the season in my opinion to remove any doubt that he's a Franchise guy. 3-4 good games can't erase the past 4 years of mediocre play from the memories of fans. We'll see how they both finish this season.

And we all know this defense isn't very good. Even during the 6 game win streak, there was clear evidence that we aren't very good defensively. So nothing they did today shocked me. It's amazing we were able to win 6 games in a row with this defense. It will take a couple of off seasons to fix this defense.

I'm still optimistic about the direction of team but by no means has anything been PROVEN one way or the other. #ONEGAMEATATIME #BABYSTEPS

**** happens, bad games happen. As ugly as it was, it only counts as ONE loss. Gase is still our coach, Ryan is still our QB for the foreseeable future. On to Arizona...

When Tannehill has a game like this in such a big spot with major postseason implications on the line . . . there is reason to doubt him.

The 6 game win streak isn't nearly enough to remove 4+ years of question from him.

Like I said in other threads. There are known parts of this defense that are bad and need addressing. We knew this in September and we know that in December. But that is your 5th year QB back there, getting pretty decent protection and getting a good YPC from his RB . . . and he was just bad today. He was inaccurate, he was hesitant and he looked uncomfortable. And it gets no easier with the rest of this schedule and the type of defenses we face. He's gotta be the difference maker for this offense and 0 points through 3 quarters and only points on a turnover that sets him up on the 8 yard line just ain't good enough.

He's a starter in this league and he has the physical ability to be a damn good QB, but he can't be jekyll and hyde with no playoff appearances in 5 years. He will continue to be questioned until that changes and it is more on him now with a lot of his hindrances removed.

I agree wholeheartedly, inb4 you're labeled "an orange"

The entire defense has starters too that never showed up today either.

Maxwell and IAQ played decently. Kiko had his worst game as a Fin but has been great most of the year.

If you wanna call Paysinger/Butler/McCain/Lippett viable starters, that is you. All 4 are injury replacement and mainly special teams guys.

The DLine impact was negated by Baltimore's plan to have short drops and quick passes, exploiting those poor LBs and CBs.

Ryan is the Quarterback. We can't prop him up every game we win, even if its a game where the RB has 200 yards, and then compare him to injury fill ins on defense when we lose.

He needs to be better, especially when protection is adequate and Ajayi is getting good yardage.

The offense had no chance today in reality. Ryan made a bad throw or 2 but the defense gave us no chance.

But it would not have mattered. The Ravens offense wasn't going to be stopped. The defense had zero answers.

I have more faith in Gase than I do Tannehill.

You are being generous AR. Offense had the ball 3 times inside the Baltimore 40 in the first half and scored no points. Defense, came out in the third quarter and pitched a shut out. I am no way trying to defend their play today but this team, from day 1, was built around the offense being a strength and even through this win streak, the defense has been the catalyst. It would be nice to see the offense really take control and show some dominance at some point.

Ryan had more than a few bad throws though. His ball placement in this game was as bad as I've seen in 2 years. Absolving them from blame just can't fly with me. Hell the only points in this game were set up by the defense.

He had some bad ball placement today no doubt, particullary two passes to Landry. The thing is your defense gives up seven out of the gate and then of course your filed goal kicker misses the kick and shortly there after its 14-0. It's hard on the road against a good defense when you get behind.

Once it's 14-0 it just changes the game, that's the problem. I mean what did we expect the offense to do against that Defense? And you put them in a bad position from the start. The way we could have won that game would have been like a 14-10 type game.

Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of watching Tannehill get propped up like a rock star in the Rams game after 55 minutes of complete mehhh by the offense, and the 2nd half of the week before was rescued by a kick return from Drake.

The defense kept us in that Rams game single handedly and all we heard about was that Tannehill got a "kill". That defense is not a great unit, especially in the back 7 and especially at CB and OLB but my goodness can we get a complete game from the offense and to at least give the defense some motivation to improve in game.

At least in week 2 the offense started scoring after giving up 28 points and the defense adjusted to only give up 3 points in that 2nd half. They were on track to do something similar, defense gave up 0 points in the third quarter, but the offense continued to sputter around and Tannehill continued with the bad ball placement throughout the game.

And you know what, it is what it is . . . but this is the franchise QB we are talking about. If he can play like **** for 55 minutes and make a few throws to win a 14-10 game and get the glory, he certainly can take the lion's share of a game like this where his offense doesn't even score until the defense sets him up in the 4th quarter.

It's not like the dogs were loose on him either. The OLine gave him time, even into the 4th quarter . . . it was just a bad game and it's the perfect circumstances for those who have doubts in him to come out and let it be known.

And I have been a strong defender of him since early on in this streak, but that was a poor performance from him today and I hope he shakes it off and comes back with a better game next Sunday. There is no more "curve" about knowing this offense. He's 12 games in, he's had success in it . . . his unit has the talent to be better . . . so be better than what we saw today.

It's just frustrating this time of year seeing alpha dog players propping up their teams no matter how many injuries or excuses they have. This is the time of year that the Pro Bowlers and guys that have produced in the post-season take over games.
