I just love how were being so active today!

Colston never hit the open market so start off by doing research. Why would we bring in a more expensive Brandon Marshall aka VJax and we don't have a need at guard, it's at right tackle and Eric Winston is in town. Think before you speak my friend

Before you speak why dont comprehend the point im trying to make. Im saying were not even talking to big named guys. Just cause we dont have a need dont mean we cant upgrade at a position. Isnt that what were trying to do at qb....trying to upgrade to someone better.

Since when did the Dolphins last pounce on someone early in Free agency? I will tell you it was Justin Smiley after some tampering. The Phins always do this, even tho most fans here think we should go after these big name guys in day one. Besides Drew Brees, which free agent pickup REALLY worked out for the team that got them?

Lets see how many teams from the playoffs last year have made a move so far...NE-nope, Giants-visit with M. Bennett TE, GB-nope, Pitt-cap strapped, Denver-Nope, Baltimore-nope, NO-vist with Grubbs OG, Cinn-nope, Houston-cap strapped, 49ers-resigned there guys and added ILB Gooden, ATL-resigned Douglas WR, and Detriot-Tedd ginn in for a visit.

The Dolphins need to add build through the draft and pick up players like a R. Marshall CB and a M. Anderson from NE. Good players that will be cheaper than these overblown contracts.

again...Peyton Manning isn't a big name?

Also, Miami doesn't have the money that some of these other teams have but you keep crying

We are going to be building through the draft.....did anyone actually "listen" to Coach Philben?

Not only are we not bringing in anyone to improve our team, we are actually getting worse by not resigning guys like Langford and Soliai. What exactly is our plan to replace the starters we are losing?

I am pretty sure at this point that the FO will bring in Winston, sign Flynn, and draft a receiver. Then they will do some patchwork on the D and call it an offeseason.

I am surprised at the surprise. Fans always want every big FA to sign with their team. That NEVER happens especially here. The Dolphins usually sign one tier1/2 FA then sign a bunch of depth/special teamers. That is it.

More importantly, we only had like $8M at the start of free agency, prior to Marshall trade. $8 mil! Manning alone is looking for $20 mil per year.

Best bet now (assuming Manning doesn't come here) is Flynn and some depth in the secondary and Oline and WR.

folks here seem to forget that Philbin came from GB and the philosophy in GB was to not partake in FA at all and to develop from within using the draft. GB has not signed a single FA in the past 2 years. granted Ireland controls that aspect here, but I sure as heck hope Philbin has some say in it as well. and the trade of Marshall just adds to this thinking as we have 2 more 3rd round picks now (one this year and one next year)

I do envision Mia signing a QB in FA this year though. other than that I don't expect much activity at all.

Its seems like everyone is signing big recievers and we are giving ours away for 3rd round picks. In the words of the honorable kanye west, "Hauh!?!?!?" We are kidding ourselves if we think Manning wants to come to the bottom with no #1 reciever in place. Reggie wayne is gone, Moss gone, VJax gone, Garcon gone, Josh Morgan gone.... Who are we waiting for? T.O.?

Typical Miami offseason, all the big name free agents come off the board while we sit back and look for "acorns" as jeff ireland likes to say.

Big name, big money FAs rarely make their new teams better. Smart teams like the Patriots, Steelers, and Giants spend wisely in FA and therefore are able to build up depth. Buffalo might blow their entire cap on just Mario Williams, when they need help everywhere.

Which situation would you rather be in?

boohoo may teams sucks, we have no chance. Ugh, all the whining in the world will not change w/e is going to happen.

It's the freaking 2nd day of FA and you guys have given up already? What a joke.

Lets start by seeing who are new coach is and where he came from. Now look at Philbins former place of employment, and their yearly picking of FA's.

As for Ireland and his 'acorns'. Dansby was the best ILB/MLB in FA the year Ireland signed him. Bush was signed and traded to avoid a possible bidding war if he had hit the open market. MIA isn't always the big shopper, but will spend for the right talent. What you want is WAS type spending, and that isn't going to happen. Get over it.:lol2:
