After all we have given up nothing because we sent our 6th round pick for Ferguson & a 6th round pick from Dallas nad the Cowboys selected Eric Walden with that pick and we claimed him later in the season on waivers and he is a pretty good special teamer for us..
And with the pick we received we selected Donald Thomas..

So imo this trade worked out perfectly if you get a good NT that has two season left in him, (maybe) your starting RG for the coming years and a standout special teams player..
All players that were traded are now Dolphins.. Great ! :d-day:

I just wanted to share that with you, guys ;)

Yeah, saw this news awhile ago, BUT still good to repost. With a lot of the negative moves the FO has made being brought up by some posters on this board, its good to see a transaction that really benefitted the Dolphins. With all the panic over the CB situation, imagine if we hadn't acquired Ferguson from Dallas. Solai would be our starter as of today. Instead, we have the luxury of selecting a "project" for a NT to replace Ferguson who should have at least one more good year in him (not to mention there is still a CHANCE Solai gets his head together and decides to play like the bigman he is). Donald Thomas, while still unproven, is a tough kid and has a bright career ahead of him IMHO so long as he stays healthy. I would have been happy with just those two players alone in the trade, but to get the player back that we selected with one of the pics sent to Dallas (Erik Walden) is great. I really like Walden's intensity and fiery play on ST's. The special teams unit seemed to improve (though not soley because of him) after Walden was acquired. Great trade for the Front Office:up:

You really cant look at it that way, cause we probally wouldnt have drafted Erik Walden, and could have had a player on our roster from that pick. That being said, it was a terrific deal for us and has paid great dividends.

yeah it was a good move but only a temp one.. we still need a young playmaker at NT

You're right, we may not have drafted Walden. However, because we had a need for a good special teamer (and wedgebuster) at the time, it makes the Walden acquisition a good fit and makes the deal (as you said) terrific for us.

If I remember correctly, wasn't it Ferguson and their 6th last year, for our 6th last year and this year?
Yes, we gave them our 2009 6th round pick also. The swap of picks in 08' benifited us as mentioned above, because Walden was signed by the Dolphins.

??I can't look at it that way?? I can look at it any way I please. The fact that we snapped up Walden as soon as he became available leads me to believe there is a very good chance that we may have indeed picked him with that pick.
