I kinda thought Dansby and Burnett were good

I've stated it many times, but both Burnett and Dansby had their best years of their Dolphin tenure last season. Both were solid against the run, especially Dansby, and both were significantly better against the pass. It was mildly amusing to see Ireland picking both LB's most productive year to be the year they got cut.

With that said, I'm not nearly as down on our two new LB's as some people here. At the end of the day, you can say they are overpaid, but seeing people calling them "the worst LB duo in the NFL" is hilariously stupid. Overall, our defense was SIGNIFICANTLY better than last season - much better against the pass, much better at creating turnovers, much better with points allowed - and those 2 LB's played more snaps than pretty much anyone else on this defense.

No doubt we got younger with these moves, but our linebackers were not our problem last year by any means. Players always seem like they are better when they are playing for someone else. When you see every play, thats when you can start picking a guy a part. (Remember how much everyone loved it when we signed Dansby and Burnett?). I wonder if we won't start picking apart these recent signings too once we see these guys play every down.

Miami didn't go 8-8 with them on the team

Neither Dansby's nor Burnett's team made the playoffs. Actually, when I look at former Dolphins players, Brandon Marshall has not made the playoffs since he left, Jake Long hasn't. Only ones are Sean Smith, Fasano and Vontae Davis. (There might be some more, these are the ones I recall quickly.)

Neither Dansby or Burnett could cover a TE or rush the QB.

they could, they just couldnt do it every week. and the end of the season they would fizzle. kind of like they did yesterday (other guys).

Brandon Marshall has never been on a team that has made the playoffs

They couldn't cover a te or rush the qb any week. They were brutal. And I'm not saying Wheeler and Ellerbe were any better.

We upgraded with LB's that are better blitzers and can cover better.

Yes that has been said quite often although there is nothing to substantiate it. Dansby is better in coverage than either guy.
He has more passes defensed , sacks and interceptions than both our new linebackers combined.
He also had more tackles than either guy. Our coordinators never had a clue how to use Dansby.
We saved money for one season for very average linebackers that will now make the same money that the guys they replaced were making.
We outbid ourselves for two players that no teams were willing to pay that much for

yea that dominant pass rush from wheeler and ellerbee that produced a grand total of 1.5 sacks lol.

Dansby should have been a pro bowler this year but its all about popularity. Burnett and Dansby were better players this season than either player and that speaks to our defensive coaches more than anything.
Dansby has produced every year in the nfl but of course there are some on this board that will accept any new player as better no matter if he has only been a starter a part season or not.
