I knew we should have kept this guy

He had one long run and 5 carried for -1 yards...I dont think you can put too much stock in him looking good in the preseason. I was thinking the same thing when I heard about the long run on the radio earlier.

Freddie Russel wasnt even here last year was he?? I thought Spielman brought him in.

yat r u kidding me your saying this after he had one semi-decent preseason game, u have got to be kidding me fred russel wouldnt make our roster if he was here now

According to NFL.com, that Fred Russell is a rookie.

Same Fred Russell, he just hasn't been on an active roster. I really think we would have been well off to keep him in 2004, even if he couldn't have carried the load we could have used a guy who could be absolutely explosive- if only for one out of every dozen plays. None of our backs besides Sammy Morris could even come close to being consistent in getting even minor (no pun intended) gains. Russell would have at least done something.

I remember John Avery ripping off something like a 90 yard TD run as a rookie in a pre-season game against San Francisco. Everybody started thinking he had stardom written all over him. Found out pretty quickly that one long meaningless run does not a career make.
