but if you were expecting Sage to come in and play like Carson Palmer at this point in his career, your expectations are too high. I saw the same type of "See? He sucks" threads about Chris Simms on the Bucs Board after Simms stunk up the field vs the 49ers in his second career complete game start. He single handedly lost the game vs the worse team in the league. Young QBs go through growing pains. They all do.

Image if Marvin Lewis had benched Palmer after is first start? What if Peyton was completely judged on HIS first game? He would never have had another shot in Indy.

Frankly, the Division is just about out of reach for the Fins at this point. I think they should stick with Sage and let him develop. TC and practice are great for getting in shape, but learning to be a starting QB comes only one way.

Playing time. Period.

I agree however I don't believe Sage will be that good if allowed to start the rest of the season. He is a career backup, which is why he hasn't seen the field in the last 3 seasons. Gus is the best shot this team has of winning(sadly). I would like to now how far away Cleo Lemon is from knowing the system or being able to play.

I would have been happy if he just competed! Hell, I would have been happy if he completed a pass!

Well I don't know anything about Cleo but I do know that whoever the young QB that Sabin settles on as the QB of the future, isn't going to be the next Ben Roth~berger. He's going to take some lumps and make some mistakes. Simms didn't play much over the last 3 years either and wouldn't be playing now if not for the injury to Griese. And you know what? We wouldn't have beaten the Skins or the Vicks without Simms arm and mobility. Fans have to be patient sometimes. We all want to win NOW but trying to win NOW isn't always what's best in the long run.

NOBODY expected that. However, I think 14 yds passing is a bit of a disappointment. The Fins were pounding Cleveland's defense with the running game. All we expected was a workmanlike effort and a bit of efficiency. That is not much too ask of a backup QB. Your post and it's insinuations are uninformed and ridiculous.

I want to see Lemon get at least 3 starts by the end of the season. We know what we have in Gus and Sage. Lets see what we have in Cleo.

Yeah, 14 yards is absolutely terrible. But the FACT is that a young QB is going to have horrible games. If a team is serious about developing him they will have to stick with him when those things happen.

Expectations here are way too high, that's been the problem for the past few years.

Everyone thinks our team is much better than it really is. I think going back to when JJ came here, when he gave his predictions and timetables for the fins to get to the super bowl expectations have been unrealistic.

I can't believe how all the guys griping about the Dolphins always going after "career backups" at QB are screaming for us to start Lemon.

That is going from a career backup to a career 3rd-stringer. Or a career practice-squad guy.
