I know we have Ronnie, but I still regret not getting DJ.

I would have loved to have him too. Have been watching the guy since his freshman year and have loved everything I see. He must have a huge chip on his shoulder, because after that college career he really should have been a top 5 pick. Just the way the cards fall though. He reminds me of Julian Peterson. I'm sure Saban would love to have him after all of the ways he used Peterson in college at MSU.

I dont...

Derrick Johnson might turn out to be a good player, but there were a lot of negatives about him come draft day.

hindsight is 20/20.

We have only seen Ronnie for a couple of days. Picking RB's at #2 is rare enough let alone picking a linebacker there. I think we got the 2nd best LB in the draft with Crowder also. Plus we got Ronnie who is a freak of nature. 3 inches shorter, 14 pounds lighter but a lot quicker and in a more influential position. I think we got what we could have seeing that Alex Smith was gone.

There were also a lot of people who thought he would be the safest pick in the draft...

Of course there were some gurus who thought different so everybody listened to them instead of thinking for themselves.

Which is a common occurence around here....

The funny thing about Derrick Johnson is that all of his weaknesses were exactly the same as DJ Williams' the year before.. and DJ had a great rookie season in Denver.

I think #2 was just too high for him, IMO... it became clearer as we got closer to the draft that it was going to come down to the guys that ultimately went in the top 5 picks.

The guy I wanted us draft went #10 to Detroit...

Adam Shefter has a man crush..!!!

nah, i liked DJ too. if you want an LB, next year is stacked with outstanding prospects.

If the guy becomes the next Derrick Brooks or Ray Lewis, then number 2 was too low.....or was 27 the right spot for Dan Marino?

We got a fine linebacker in round 3 named Channing Crowder.

your right... was 199 the right spot for Tom Brady??

I'd take him over any QB in the NFL right now.
