Seriously, Hickey's main job in this power structure is to acquire the talent that will put the Dolphins in the best position to succeed under Philbin/Lazor/Coyle's philosophy. While I don't have any insight into the inner workings of the Phins FO, it did not seem that Ireland was all that concerned with doing that. Example: Dion Jordan. Love the guy, think he could be a game-changing athlete, but he was not a great fit for Coyle's scheme.
I have this suspicion that Ireland and the coaching staff simply were not on the same page last year. That seems to be different now.
