I wasn't a great believer but I am now. I think if they can keep him things will get better. I like the way he he calls a game. Not all the times. But the majority of times I do. I might be wrong. But I doubt it.

Which is why it's important we get to at least 9-7 so Joe isn't fired and this staff isn't blown up. Give Tannehilll and Lazor another year and offensive performances like those against Denver could be the norm.

I agree.

I think we should promote Lazor to head coach next year.

Lazor has been a breath of fresh air - but how could he not after 2years of Sherman and his unqualified son-in-law developing Tannehill. I'm also thinking that Tannehill might have been even more impressive at Texas A&M if someone other than fossilized Sherman had been his HC.

I agree. We have more RZ trips than any team in football. Tells me we can move the ball. We need some better RZ personnel for RT to work w next year. Our offense is going to be scary good pretty soon.

What Lazor has brought to this team that is most important is a sense of precision, a demand for perfection knowing it can't be obtained. The drive to make the right play, use the right technique, read the right call. It could have been any offensive playbook and this team, specifically Tannehill, would be playing better because Lazor demands it. The talk earlier this season was that he's abrasive. Of course, when you don't do things right he calls you out. Do it right next time or we'll get someone who does. The fact his playbook is modern is only part of the reason it's effective. The man drives the offense.

I agree that he should be promoted to Head Coach. He's very smart and has changed the culture on offense. It's so much more dynamic and fun to watch than it's been in years. He's young, a great leader and has a great future as a HC in the NFL. I would hate to lose him and see him become a brilliant HC for someone else. We need to keep this guy on the Miami Dolphins. I would still have him call the plays as HC. Let him hire a like minded OC that is well versed in the Chip Kelly style of offense. Philbin leaves me cold. He doesn't inspire great confidence. Lazor inspires great confidence, at least to me he does. We all want a dynamic HC. We wonder who we will get if we part ways with Philbin. Bill Lazor is the man imo.

Sparano's offense was able to move the ball too. I will agree that Lazor's offense is getting better stats, and the higher points-per-game average is a result of so many red zone visits. BUT, Lazor's offense is terrible at TD percentage in their red zone visits, and TDs scored from outside the red zone. This is, IMO, due to their lack of both a vertical passing game and a strong, powerful running game. We know that Tannehill can't throw deep, but even when the running game is working they often get away from it. Philbin said when he was hired that the short timing routes of the passing game were basically going to replace the running game, so Philbin will never agree to adding a power running game. I believe that Lazor would probably love adding the deep ball (used in Philly, and possibly accomplished by replacing Wallace if they want to keep Tannehill) and a dominating running game to his already effective short and intermediate passing game, but this will never happen while Philbin is the Head Coach.

Lazor hasn't even spent a full season as an OC yet.....no way I'm promoting him to a HC job until he has proven himself over a couple of seasons at least.

The strength of this offense currently is the passing game. That is why you are seeing so much of it. The running game needs to be improved. It is certainly better this year, but still not where we want it. The folks in Philly will tell you the real strength of their offense is the running game, not the passing game. And the long ball......is being way overblown. Does it need to improve...yes. Is it a fatal flaw...no.

We need strong guard play and the running game gets better. We have 3 first round draft picks on the offensive line (Albert, Pouncey and James) who when healthy, can flat out play. Add a couple of strong guards to the mix and our run game will just continue to improve.

good points. Not sure I agree that replacing Mike Wallace will make the deep ball better. not sure I interpreted what you were saying there correctly though.

Wallace seems like he needs to have a perfect ball hit him in stride, but Tannehill can't do that. Maybe having another fast WR with a bigger catch radius who could go after and catch those non-perfect passes would make more sense.
