We have so many holes. So giving up 5 spots for a LB and a 6'2" corner is fine with me... 2 holes filled, zero picks given up is the key here for me. I LOVE Kiko's instincts and I don't think Maxwell is that bad. It's hard to cover when it takes your D-line a half hour to get to the QB and your jackass coach runs 3 plays in ten seconds and punts so you're right back on the field. He's not great and yes he's a giant puzzy... but all corners are. plus he will help us on the big WR's in our division.
.....The "IF" part is if Jack is there at 8 I'll be pissed. his coverage skills are amazing... would be a great Will. But i'm tellin ya Hargreaves will be there at 13 we pay him less and get our guy. if that happens we're effing geniuses. If he's not there, under the current situation go DE or OL... hole filled
Vernon equals overated massive salary cap saved plus compensatory.
Mario half the cost same results as OV...or better. Watch and see.
I also think Joseph will do well with Dion. We screwed around with him at LB and messed with his head IMO... He is a hand in the dirt 4-3 DE and I'll bet you this year a damn good one. Keep Wake we need him.
CJ at 2 million a year less than Miller... Hell yeah all day every day and twice on sundays. Dude runs low, catches well, and is actually deceptively fast at getting the edge.
I like we haven't overpaid for the FA Guards, they aren't worth what they're getting paid...average talent, but that has to be the next step. lock up a solid G soon and draft one high (or OT).
If we can sure up the OL and score big on the FS position, and CB, OLB than damn i'm good with that.

Heck of a post! We are in good hands finally! Get excited!

Great post! Fans were up in arms with guys leaving, but we've put our team in much better shape.

I'm starting to come around to the move, but likewise, there are some big IFs
-IF Jack is gone by 8, I will be very happy. Would've loved him here (I think its iffy Hargreaves makes it to 13 too)
-I would probably still go cb in round 1 (apple, alexander, jackson?)

The other big ifs are if kiko can stay healthy and if Maxwell can just be average enough.

We absolutely need to continue to address the OL, at least 2 players should be added imo. Then in the draft after round 1, its wide open. Maybe in rounds 3 / 4 grab Tyler Matakevich and then a runningback to add to whatever committee we go with.

I like Matakevich also. I watched him live here against Notre Dame. Damn smart kid just has to work on not allowing himself to get eaten up by the OL. Great instincts though.

Agree with everything you said ...except the part about Dion having a big year. Recent photos show the dude looking fat. Doesn't look motivated at all, our only hope is that Kiko can talk some sense into his talented yet dumb ass.

Also on Maxwell, Billy Davis's scheme was completely wrong for him. He was playing zone or off man the entire season and he was miscast there. He needs to get his hands on the WR like he did in Seattle. I think he will be better here than in Philly, I know it's not saying much. But I believe he will be a solid starter for us.

Doesn't really instill confidence when you see the dillweed still wearing a backwards shirt. :bobdole::lol:

2 holes aren't filled because Maxwell is just replacing Grimes. CB is still a major issue. As in Miami has none except for Maxwell

I would say cutting Brice McCain was a ringing endorsement for Bobby McCain in the nickel. You do not make that move unless you are comfortable with Bobby. He was on a very reasonable deal but made no sense to keep as he is limited to the nickel.

So we have 2 of our top 3. Lippett project in year 2 . . . .kid had a few moments last year. Some hold overs like Jamar Taylor that Vance Joseph gets to take a look at. Need another veteran boundary CB (Josh Robinson visiting which would work) and then address it early in the draft.

Certainly a need.

Eli Apple will fill the other corner.....VH3 won't be there, I'm betting hes not there at 8 either.

Jack won't be there.

Anyone see anything in Taylors game that might suggest he will be a better player in a new defensive scheme?

I won't feel good about this offseason until both guard positions are upgraded, which won't take much considering what we currently have there. Until then, nothing else gives me hope for the upcoming season.

I guarantee you they already have someone in mind that they were going to trade back for anyway in the draft. If that is the case, then it was a great trade as you fill 2 big wholes and still get your guy in the draft. I am guessing they like Eli Apple.

I trust this group more because they actually seem to be on the same page and all talking to each other, baby steps.

Sadly enough no, and if we hadn't made that stupid trade for Dion, we could have had DJ Hayden, God I hate Ireland

Totally agree with this post. I was over the Dolphins a few months ago. I was sure Tannebaum would run this team into salary cap hell, like he did with the Jets. But now, I find myself checking the news wire again throughout each day.

This Free Agency has felt really different to me as a Dolphins fan. Players are being offered contracts that actually match their value, without huge signing bonuses or terms that will handicap the Dolphins years into the future. Players are being signed for positions of need, or to shed players whose performance doesn't match their contract. Trades are being made for players that have already agreed to restructure their deals. And, they still have money in the bank, that they can spend as opportunities surface in the coming weeks. Yes, like everyone else, I'm still very frustrated they haven't done much to help the OL, yet. But, I am still hopeful with FA and the Draft, the Front Office can find 2 Guards who can actually play (or one if Turner can flip the switch).

Like most here, I was an OV and Lamar Miller fan. I wish they were still Dolphins. But, not at the price they were paid by other teams. Not even close. Mario Williams at DE, and (possibly) CJ Anderson at RB, at much less money combined, are great value. Kiko Alonso at middle linebacker for the Phins..... that excites me if he can stay healthy. I'm not familiar with the DB or Safety they've signed, but both are big, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do under Joseph.

Phins up.
