Yesterday i was reffing a 7 on 7 flag football tournament and i was talking to the coach of Maquoketa and we were discussing his current QB and he says "he's not the best QB i've coached but he is going to be alright". then he said "The best QB i've ever coached is makin hundreds of thousands for the dolphins". so that automatically caught my attention and i let him know how much of a phin fan i am and we just had a little convo about sage for about 10 minutes. what is weird is that i never knew sage was from Maquoketa (which is about 45 minutes away from where i live), but then again i was in junior high when he was in high school so thats probably why.. but i just thought i would share w/ everyone that i had a conversation w/ someone who coached one of our own.

Thanks, always like hearing that kinda stuff. My high school coach, coached Rob Konrad in his H.S. all star game saying he was unbelieveable. A friend played with him in H.S. and said he would take himself out of the game (tired, shoulder ache)whenever he wanted regardless of what the coach thought...and the coach wouldn't say anything.

sounds like rob, yeah being my age, im jus getting into the high school football program and there was a kid at my school last year who was just amazing, he was supposed to be the starting reciever and we had no quarterback to get him the ball so we put him at running back and he just went wild, rushing for 21 TDs and 1,600 yrds..........he going to D1 but only university of buffalo because of him playing runningback last year, hes a born reciever and an excellent one at that but no one got to see it, almost a waist of talent

Konrad was an amazing athlete, He commited to Syracuse before his senior year (they utilize the fullback the most in their offense) and that was it. USA today second team all-american as a high school senior and could have gone anywhere as a linebacker. As a junior he broke the state record in the javelin or was it the discus? and didnt' even bother with it as a senior.

That's cool! I went to school with Glen Murray and played basketball with him (he's a solid NHL player).

I also teach at Sidney Crosby's old junior high. I remember him in grade 8. nice kid. (He's the next Wayne Gretzky possibly and will be drafted #1 this year.) wrong sport, but you know, this kind of connections stuff is fun. Makes ya all tingly!
