It was an unbelievable experience! He was in Chapel Hill tonite to coincide with the latest restaurant opening. Check out the pics. I apologize they're not very good, but WOW...who cares, I met The Don tonite! He had some great stories.DSCF1110.jpg

I was stumbling over my words!! But he was just way cool and mentioned that he expects to be in town several times a year as his Granddaughter attends UNC. Just an incredible experience. Likes Pennington, likes Sparano and feels we're another great draft away from making some serious noise.

anybody see the last episode of mayne street? let's just hope the encounter was slightly more civil :)

But seriously bro, that is awesome!

Man what an honor! Cherish that memory forever, he IS the Dolphins as far as I'm concerned.

Nice .....

I met him in Newark a few years back when they opened Shula's 2 at one of the hotels near the Airport.
I got him to sign the pic of him getting carried off the field when he broke the wins record. ( Which, if I am correct I was at the game, in the old vet in Philly.. Doug Peterson was the QB of record!

Edit... I did some research. I was correct, and I was at the game when Shula broke Halas's record.

On Nov. 14, 1993, the Dolphins won in Philadelphia, 19-14, behind journeyman quarterback Doug Pederson, to give Shula his 325th career victory, surpassing Chicago's George Halas as the NFL's winningest coach. Sports Illustrated marked the accomplishment by naming him Sportsman of the Year

That is awesome.
side note:
My dad met Parcells. Come to think of it, he eats at the same restaurant every weekend. My dad is the restaurant's CPA. ;)

I live in upstate NY next to the race track...Parcells golfs at the same course as I do and when he is having a bad round; the course officials slow everyone elses pace of play to accommodate him. He has been really cool the couple times I got to meet him at the clubhouse and restaurant. It's a great place and amazing course...early July to end of August...i've never had the courage to ask him for an autograph yet...he has that stare of his even off the field and away from football...
