than Satele..

I've been watching Oakland Raiders games from last year since they basically played everyone we played including Baltimore and ATL.. And Grove was a beast at his position...he jumped on all the NT's of each team, the Jets, the Pats, the DT's of Buffalo and killed Balt.'s NT...I didn't think I'd see a center play as consistently against all those guys, but Grove did.. He kept his positioning upon playing all of them.. but the rest of the Oakland OL, especailly LT was terrible.,, This was one instance where Big and slow came to mind.. They reminded me of our 07 OL and you guys know how that turned out.. Russell for his first year playing behind that line did better than I thought, but you could see his feet starting to get happy after taking a lot of shots.. But Grove was the one consistent player on that OL..he got to the 2nd level a lot..pretty good feet. I kept thinking he's strong and with our workout program, maybe even stronger, I look forward to seeing Smiley, Grove and D. Thomas in the center of our OL.. This could be a real good OL, if they stay healthy and gel.. I was actually thinking we'll miss Satele when I started this journey, but after watching Grove, I think we have someone that will allow us to run up the middle and not just off tackle.. I'm really looking forward to the PS and hoping Thomas can get back in there early to allow some growing time together, because with his strength and Grove, I see the middle to Thomas size clearing out.. Go back and look at Thomas in the Jet's game again to see what I'm talking about. This is the first time in years I'm feeling optimistic about our OL.. and that's saying a lot for me when it comes to a phins OL. Now if our front 3 on D can hold down the fort, we may have another good year..

I think every acknowledges that Grove is the superior player to Satale....One thing you can say for Satale though.....He was durable, which is the question with Grove.

"I must admit Grove is better that Satele"
"I think every acknowledges "
nice use of the English language you two :)

With Miami's conditioning program and the good results they had last year with it, hopfully Grove will be better conditioned and that in turn will limit his chance of getting injured.

Like Boss stated, it's not really Grove's skills / talent that are in question, it's his durability issues that cause major concern. That goes for Thomas and Smiley as well...

I haven't watched the games, guess I should. my concern with comparing satele and grove from last years common opponents is that grove was arguably oaklands best lineman.

teams generally would prefer to attack the weak spots rather than attacking their strength .

our interior line was our weakness, and without support to his sides, satele became the focus of most opponents attack s.

Man I'm excited about our running game next season. If our O-Line stays healthy, I think we are going to surprise a lot of people.

The injury history has been overstated with Grove. He has missed around 12 games due to injury in 5 seasons. The injury concern is there, but I believe it is not a large concern. Time will tell.

I though it was overstated too.

He wasn't even the starter that first year was he?

Grove was the starter in 2005 and he missed six games that season. In 2006 he played and started all 16 games. In 2007 he played in only 7 games, starting 2. In 2008 he missed 4 games.

Since 2005 Grove has played in 45 of a possible 64 games.

They say jake grove is better. I personally never seen him play. I don't even remember him when we played the raiders. I hope he is better because if he is worse then we are in trouble.

They say he has a mean streak which is great...But his the history of injuries concern me. Satelle was average at best but he was always healthy.

From what i have heard and read if grove can stay healthy he is a definite upgrade to satelle...

I read somewhere he has held his own against top notch DTs. I would like to see that for a change. Satelle got manhandled against top AFC DTs.

The days of chuck klinbeil, keith sims, ((((richmond webb AKA Jake long ((( with the difference jake is a better run blocker)))are acoming.

Can he stay healthy is the key!

A dominant-healthy OL makes the whole team better, lets wear them out under the hot Florida sun...and its something we havent seen around here in ages, hopefully this is it!
