The easiest job in the world is to be the backup quarterback, atleast untill you actually have to play. You get the pleasure of everyone liking you, regardless of how the team does. Hell, if the starting QB doesn't do well, the fans will even think you're the best thing since sliced bread, and seriously question the sanity of anyone pointing out that you're actually benched.

I think we learned a valuable lesson yesterday: Starting is something you earn. You don't start someone for any other reason than them earning their spot on the field.

I don't ever want to start anyone to "see what they've got". It's obvious what they've got if they are benched. If you play better than the guy infront of you, by all means, take the spot, but if the guy infront of you is horrible, only surpassed by your own lacking skills, you do not start.

I guess my point is this:
Frerotte isn't very good, that's perfectly clear. He's spent a lot of years on the bench for a reason, but he's the lesser evil. But yesterday our backup QB, who to some fans is the next franchise QB based on one long throw to Chambers, threw interceptions on 20% of his passes.

20%

There is a reason the depth chart looks like this: Frerotte, Rosenfels and Lemon.

The worst thing about this is that the glorified backup situation will remain the same. Well not completely, but almost. Last week, it was "We have to see what Sage can do", and I can guarantee that there will be "We have to see what Lemon can do" threads this week.

It's depressing that our QB situation is so bad, there are actually people that want to see an undrafted free agent that's been with the club for a month start. I'l let you in on a secret regarding this situation. If we start Lemon, there is about a 3% chance he will do well, and this is the optimistic take.

First of all, undrafted free agency isn't where you find your starters. If you get an UDFA you can be pretty happy if the person is a servicable backup, but if you're not even good enough to spend a 7th rounder on in the draft, you're not the next comming of Dan Marino.

I guess what I really want to say, is that if you're considering starting a thread called "Let's see what this kid Lemon can do", then don't. They are about as tiring, pointless and stupid as the thread suggesting we trade our first rounder to Pittsburg to Rothlisberger, or the one suggesting we move Thomas to safety.

thx touborg, much better way of writing what I wanted to say without me cursing people. Sage sux, well established. no more BullS@@t talk anymore from the sage lovers/idiots. sorry I get I am cursing aren't I?:D

I heard you Euro guys are soft and cry like Dick Vermeil all the time...

You're thinking about the French. In Denmark we beat men that cry, because we all know men don't have emotions.

hahahaha, ahhh the stoic Danes :goof:

You descend from those soft crybabies.

I do not. I decend from monkeys and they don't cry either...

I agree Sage was terrible and the coaches obviously do know better than the fans. But when the team clearly isn't going anywhere, I really don't see what was wrong about wanting to find out about Sage. Now we know he stinks and this team will have to find an adequate backup in the future.

It is quite impressive though, that Sage can play almost 3 quaters of football and only gain 14 yds. How on earth is that possible???

I'm sure this thread will stop all the "we want Cleo Lemon" threads.

Could you create world peace next?

.....and then could you maybe help me find some good BBQ??

Once again, you dont see the big picture. This teams problems are not just QB.
