The Dolphins released the following players Saturday to trim their roster to 52 players:

Fullback Fred Beasley, defensive tackle Josh Shaw, running backs Kay-Jay Harris and Gerald Riggs Jr., guards Tony Pape and C.J. Brooks, tackles Mike Pearson and Orrin Thompson. safeties Jack Hunt and Deke Cooper, tight ends Keith Heinrich and Teyo Johnson, cornerbacks Shirdonya Mitchell and Chris Thompson, linebackers Sedrick Hodge, Matt Sinclair and Ben Ishola, and wide receivers Kelly Campbell, Marcus Vick, Fred Gibson and Devin Aromashodu.

Defensive tackle Manny Wright, who left the team early in the preseason, was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list. Wright is now ineligible to play for the Dolphins in 2006.

I Honestly though Fred Beasley,Mike Pearson, Deke Cooper, and Teyo (as a backup) were decent players and i do question those cuts especially keeping Lehan!!!

...and that fine, but none of us were there day after day, in the trenches with all these guys. And NONE of us know what Saban and Co have in mind as far as schemes....lets just wait and see how it plays out....

I'm going to assume that the coaching staff probably has a better idea than us fans of how good these players are.

the cuts i dissagree with are deke cooper and fred beasley but then again saban knows much more than i do and i deff trust him so its up for him ultimately to make the decisions not us

how dare you! Never question Saban!:shakeno:

It is interesting that most on here thought Deke had a sure spot on the roster from the INT in the last game.

You just never know about roster cuts b/c we don't see these guys in meetings, on the practice field - day in, day out. That's where many of the decisions are made.

Another variable - often overlooked - is the quality of players at other positions on the team. Carrying 10 DL's tells you that one of the cuts came because Saban felt those players made it too difficult to cut - and that he feels they will contribute in the future.

That said, I don't think this is the end of the matter. Right now we only have 1 FB and 2 RB's. I have little doubt that we'll add at least 1-2 more RB's.

I also imagine that the team has already inquired about Najeh Davenport. He would be an ideal pickup, imo (what do I know? very little, of course), b/c he has the versatility to play both FB and TB. And, he's a decent pass receiver out of the backfield.

Pearson has not been the same since injury, he is a talented guy just will never be the same guy.

Fred Beasley....heard of him? Check.

Mike Pearson...heard of him? Check.

Deke Cooper....heard of him? Check.

Teyo Johnson......heard of him? Check.

Michael Lehan....heard of him? No!!

Who does this Saban guy think he is!!!:fire: :fire:

He sure don't know nothing about players!!!!

I'll take what Saban does/thinks over any of you nay-sayers any day of the week. Stop your complaining and just wait for the results!

You only think Beasley should've stayed on the team b/c either he's a 97 on Madden or b/c you've heard of him before.

For Christ sake! Saban knows football more then any of us combined. Stop acting like you're more qualified then the guys who get paid to do their job

I have. When Poole went down, was a favorite of mine to win #4 CB when recovered from surgery. Must have shown enough for Saban in limited time. Not especially hard when compared to our other dime CB pre-season performance. Plus if Daniels can't play Thurs, may be better to have at nickel CB than others.

I think the point was that most people wanted to keep players that had heard of and cut the players that they hadn't heard of. They had heard of Teyo but not Lehan, sh they are asking why Saban cut Teyo but kept Lehan. I think the last part was sarcastic.
