I really hated Starks effor the last few weeks of the season and i also disliked how our middle of the dline was totally owned but i did see Soliai having to face multiple double teams, i wouldnt even mind seeing both leave and us sticking with Odrick and drafting or picking up someone else for cheaper.

it is what it is but we allowed so many rushing yards this year because of the middle of the defensive line.

Watch Starks, Soliai, and then Odrick take on double-teams...then get back to me...

Geno Smith RAN OVER our linebackers yesterday......our LB's are a BIG problem.

Soliai has been playing hurt the last several weeks but gutted it out. He's also younger. Starks is the far better pass rusher so he's a more versatile player but if it's me I'm keeping Soliai. More tread on the tires and he's a different kind of piece than Odrick, who's a very similar player to Starks.

Wheeler's inability to anticipate and do the normal things a LB does, handicaps this defense. Watching him run around, lost, was to me Ireland's biggest indictment. And I'm not on here asking for Ireland's head. But the contract and play from Wheeler, was embarrassing to be kind about it.

Stark's and Soliai, were not the problem. Wheeler and to a lesser extent Ellerbe inability to get off a block and plug a hole, were the problem.

Refer to above posts about the LB's. Our defensive line is not the problem. Crazy to want to get rid of both.

I guess the question about both of them is this: Are they worth big money vs other guys out there who could do a similar enough job?

Not keeping Starks and Soliai would be equivalent to chopping off your legs to spite your arms.

Not keeping them is a HUGE mistake that will take several draft picks and free agent signings until we find "them" again.

the problem our D has is we dont know what kind of D we are...a 4-3 is supposed to work with lane stuffers and pass rushing DEs...the DEs hold the outside so the running backs go up the middle and hit the wall of linemen stuck there, the LBs are supposed to tackle...

our DEs do not contain the outside, our DTs get very little push, and out LBs cant tackle for $#!t...bad combination...

we are playing 4-3 with 3-4 tackles and DEs...we need to fix that...either swap back to 3-4 or start getting the right people to run your D...

1st thing they need to do is decide what d they want to play...

We have too mamy holes to fill to lose both of them but don't think we can afford to keep both. I think Odrick can replace Starks. Starks has had an attitude about Miami since the beginning of the season. Soliai is younger and, IMO, more valuable.

There is not one defensive lineman who earned their keep over the past 2 weeks.

Look at our record with these guys.

I think we will be fine without them.

If you look at the way we were playing defense you'll see the defensive linemen stunting out of the play a lot. Coyle outsmarted himself a lot down the stretch, imo. Didn't think his guys could win one on one for some reason. There's nothing wrong with the talent up front at all. Probably the only position on the team where you can say that.

also I dont know if its been said before but I was reading Omar's twitter and he just said that both ellerbe and wheelers salaries are guaranteed next year...we will not be cutting...hope he is wrong...11 million in guarantees...thanks ireland...
