Really guys, how good is this kid?? Because as soon as I hopped onto the Rivers train this year as a viable option for next year, it seems most people have shouted from the rooftops "HE HAS A WEAK ARM!!" Ok, where was this criticism two years ago??

Now it's Cutler, whose in a similiar late QB pick position, that a lot of people seem to be in love with. Yet, nobody can even provide video on the guy from several requests I've seen already.

Who is Jay Cutler and why should he be wearing a Fin uniform next year?? All I seem to be hearing is "he is like Brett Favre." Brett favre wasn't even Brett favre untill he became Brett Favre, know what I mean? ;)

Is that all there is out there on this kid??

If rivers came out this year he'd be the first qb taken with out question sorry...the guys very very accurate and has a strong arm....not a weak like people said. Also makes good decisions and can read defenses, if we get a qb i hope it'll be rivers ;)

Everybody on this board is in love with Cutler. I'm not sure why though

I'm amazed by the fact that there are lots of bandwagoners
I remember 80% of this board was like "getting Rivers would be a dream", now he has a weak arm, strange mechanics, bla bla bla

I agree.

I find it funny how people on this board mention River's mechanics. Remember how "flawed" Marino's mechanics were? I think he did ok for himself.

really?uou, I didn't know that..since I've started watching him around 1993,1994..but yes, he did ok :dolphins:

But back to Rivers, i guess being a bench-warmer made him look bad in bandwagoners mind........he's Brees' backup! the guy have been playing at Pro Bowl level!
I'm not saying rivers is the real deal..though would be a good shot, like leinart, quinn or cutler, like almost this whole board said 2 years ago!he didn't became worse in 2 years, it's still the same guy

Yeah the story w/Marino when he came out of PITT was that his release was funky. I forgot who it was, maybe Bill Walsh, who told him at a workout to never change it, because he's never seen anyone get rid of the ball that fast..something like that...
I was on the Rivers bandwagon last year, but I wasn't posting yet so I'm not sure if I count :-)

The adavantages I see to bringing him here are:
He's been through 2 NFL training camps, he be able to be with the phins in time for camp if we did get him, he's only 24, from what I understand his cap number isn't that big, and he supposedly learns pretty quick.

I'm just concerned what we'd have to give up for him.

indeed,he's young and a quick learner(?), and all he got from his 2 training camps can just benefit him..although he can still be a bust, who knows..it's a fair shot imo
I'd give up our 2006 1st pick for him

At this point in time, I don't care who we get at QB, just make sure it is an upgrade from what we have now.

Darn right, but I gotta admit, our guys (Gus & Sage) have been playing pretty well as of late.

it won't be very easy to upgrade the QB position right now due this..sage and gus are playing decent, not bad at all..
We would need a young stud to make it worth bringing in someone..all these vets around (brooks, kitna, culp) wouldn't be a great upgrade. The only ones I wouldn't be much opposed to bring in IF WE ARE NOT IN POSITION to draft one are Mcnair/Carr,through FA, or Schaub (not giving up too much)

edit: considering trading for Rivers would be like drafting a young one

This is more about the style of offense your going to run than a knock on Rivers.

I think its become obvious that we will run an Offense with a lot of long balls a part of how we move the ball, in that case a very strong armed quarterback makes more sense than a west coast type of QB.

Joe Montana wouldn't be right for our offense, does that mean he wasn't a good QB?

I like Rivers, but now that I see what they want to do, I'd rather have Cutler.

Good answer! I agree 100%

he wasnt even supposed to go that high when he WAS selected...he was midround talent, everybody said he was gonna go late first....now since he is available everybody is on his jockstrap....

i myself am on the quinn list but lets be honest lets just wait for the combine and pre-draft work outs to let these kids do thier thing...cutler, linehart, and young included and quinn if he declares...
