I'm one of the biggest dolphins there is but I also know football and right now I think the best thing for us to do is to start from scratch. This is not a 1-2 year process of turning this thing around we're at least 4-5 years away. We need to get a lot younger on both sides of the ball esspecially defense. Saban's defense is too complicated to fully grasp in 1-2 years, thats why we keep seeing the mental lapses that lead to big plays, and our veteren players are accustomed to doing things a certain way and are trying to learn how to do it saban's way and I'm sure its a difficult process. The problem is The vets won't be here or be good long enough to fully grasp the system. We need to start trading some of our vets for some draft pics and get some fresh young players in here from college and free agency that have little to no NFL experience and no loyalties to any particular way to play defense that will come in and learn and soak up everything the coaches are trying to teach. If we do this, we can have these players in that same systems for 2-3 years and by the 3rd year they should know the system like the back of their hands. Thats why Travis Daniels was able to come in and start and be productive his rookie year, he was in the same system for 4 years in college. As much as i hate to say it, we need to seriously think about trading Zach and Jason Taylor only because they are 2 of the few vets that we could actually get something for. What do you guy's/girl's think????

I hate to agree, but I think it's time to shop Taylor and Thomas around. They're great, but they eat up a ton of cap space and don't have that many years left.

I agree. Let's get rid of the last link to the Dolphins teams that actually made the play-offs, and bring in a bunch of guys fresh out of college. After all, they'll be playing for a college coach.

didn't it take 4 years for Saban's D to gel in Cleveland? And that was with a couple of years of multiple first day picks (I think...).

r u saying that guys fresh out of college are bad? Vince Young isnt a joke...just ask the Redskins and Colts. Willie Parker isnt a joke...just ask every team who played him. Lofa Tatupu isnt a joke...just ask every team that played Seattle. And ALL THE OTHERS...we DO need to start from scratch, let our younger players get in and STOP DRAFTING DL. We have a roster full of DL (Roth, Vickerson, Wright, Wright, Evans, Zgonina, Traylor, Taylor, Bowens, Wilkinson)...yet every year we keep drafting DL.

Our last appearance in the playoffs was nothing to write home about. Trust me, I was at that game. :fire:

As much as I hate to admit it, I think it might be a good idea to shop Zach and JT. Although I do have one problem with your otherwise good analysis. Saban's overly-complicated playbook could be a bigger problem. With free agency, trades, injuries, retirements and a host of other things that could happen to a player(s), the chances of turnover on the team's roster could make a complicated playbook difficult for years to come. It would be great to get some young blood on the team to build a solid foundation on, but would key players be around long enough to grasp the program?

Well, agree we need to drop ALL the WRs and TEs sans Welker. I'm tired of slow route running, no separation and DROPS! We also need quite a few pieces on the OL.

We need a speedy returner. As for defense, we did ok. The one TD was a bad/late defensive playcall leaving Jackson unsure and he bit on the inside route. I don't like the blitzing/getting burnt for TDs calls all the time. THe defense plays well enough to win, then we blitz on 3rd and the other team makes a big play. We need big studs that can actually REACH the QB. Where are our pass rushers?! Where is our bone crushing hard hitting safety?

Forget trying to build around current fan favorites that don't fit in your mold (cough* Jimmy Johnson) Saban needs to trade EVERY player that is not his type of player, and get his boys via trade, FA, or draft. If he is going to fail, at least fail with ALL of his guys.

Saban needs to change his playbook..we arent winning! HIS playbook isnt giving us WINS. i noticed that we do very well in the shotgun, no huddle offense...just like Indy and Philly. maybe we should bring in an OC who comes from a pass team.

Let's not add Vince Young to that list just yet. Everyone was, is still on Vick and look at him.

No, I was just making a half-serious, sarcastic statement. I'm just embarrassed to be a Dolphins fan right now.

Yeah, I agree. I wasn't at the game, but I know it was bad. I guess I just thought it was cool back when the Dolphins actually made the play-offs, that's all.
