I posed this question a couple of days ago but did not get the response I was looking for. I know its likely not to happen, and I dont think it will happen but if you would have asked me last year if I thought the dolphins would win out I would have said no then too, so you never no. But lets just speak in the hypothetical here people, give me some of your insight. here is what I said a few days ago

Hypothetically speaking, if the dolphins win the remainder of their games this year, how many changes if any would you make, and what would those changes be?

Personally I would make very few personell changes. And no coaching changes. The reason I say that is because team chemistry and cohesiveness is very important if you want to win in this league, and you dont want to go changing a bunch of players and coaches because that will require a lot of learning again next offseason, as opposed to just enhancing the understanding of what you already know. If you change coaches, that means new schemes and techniques will need to be learned, and if you change players that means new people will need to learn the current offense/defense and techniques. And if you change both like we did last year I think you will see the same thing as we saw this year. I would probably draft a young OLmen and let him learn behind the veterans that we already have, unless the guy is just a flat out stud and grasps the playbook and beats out the current starter. I would also draft a OLB and bring a vet in from free agency because spragan is non existant out there. And I would also draft or sign a WR and maybe one or 2 DB's. But all of my draft pics would not be expected to start. only if they are flat out studs and smart enough to understand the systems better than the players that have been here a year or two. And the free agents would be brought in to provide competition to the current players to keep them focused on doing the right things.

What do you all think??

Wow, we win 1 lousy game and get 4,000 threads saying we will win out 9 in a row. Just not happening dude, get real.

However, to answer your question if we DID (would be a serious miracle), then I would keep all coaching intact, let Daunte and Joey duke it out in preseason and best QB starts (although if we won out Joey would have to have the inside track assuming he would play lights out for us to win out), I would draft a big LT in first round, a LB in round two, and a couple safety's or cornerbacks after that. Otherwise keep the team pretty much intact.

Dude can you read? In the very first paragraph I said that I dont think they will win out. But anything is possible. Who would have thought that they would win out last year after the debacle in clevelend? Anyway thanks for asnwering the question. I an agree with the moves you would make, but what about the coaching staff. It seems like a lot of people want mularkey gone, Would you keep him if we won out or would you still want to get rid of him?

We have some crappy players on this team. We NEED to make changes. And would people please stop with the 9 game winning streak? This is getting ridiculous. We will be lucky to win 5 games.

I want to fix up the o-line. Bringing in Fonoti can go a long way towards doing that but we lack a true left tackle. I'd address that in the draft if possible, otherwise I'd try some of our 'project' players (Alabi, Toledo) at left tackle during training camp and hope they win the job outright.
I would love a fast, nasty blitzing OLB as well. I like Spragan as a blue-collar, hard-working guy but he doesn't make enough plays for us and it might be the weakest position on our defense.

I agree, we definantly need another OLB I think you were a bit nice in your assesment to spragen. I happen to think he's not that good. I don't remember one single play that the guy has made since he's been here

the changes we need to make cant happen this year, not with the players we have now. And the players we need are not just sitting around at home right now, waiting for us to call. Sorry, this team will be lucky to win 4 more games. Thats just reality, you are asking for fantasy changes....but dont think for one minute that I am not hoping for 8 more wins, cuz that would be incredible. Lets ask this, if they go 10-6 and MISS the playoffs....was it worth it?

Not if they bring in a bunch of new players and start from sctartch all over again next year. If they do go 10-6 and miss the playoffs I think they should keep the majority of the players and coachers with a few tweaks here and there and continue to build continuity and hopefully the winning continues next year

I think there is a chance that Bell will win a starting safety position. We'll see if he can hold up, but he is fast, a ball-hawk, and has proven himself time and time again. He has made more plays than anyone in our secondary and hasn't played nearly as much.

As everyone else said -- we need a solid PASS rushing, play making OLB. Briggs is our guy if we can snag him. Otherwise we should use our second rounder on that.

We need a left tackle that is an absolute franchise left tackle. I'm certain we'll use our 1RD pick on that next year. I think we need another corner too... I also think we'll need another DE as KC and JT are getting up there. This may not be as pressing, but it will be. We'll see if Roth pans out.

I agree about chemistry... But I could see Charlie Baggett taking over the OC coaching. This wouldn't disrupt chemistry. I like the way the rest of our coaching staff is and wouldn't make any changes.

I don't know about that statement. I guess there really is no way to argue that then to say we improved greatly in many aspects. I just think you're way wrong on that.

The OL needs the most work in my opinion. These guys could have a few more decent games, but it's still not one of our strengths, it's time that changed....

The DL is getting older, I'd keep a couple of them for another year, but for the most part we need to start rebuilding the DL with younger players. The secondary is still young, and needs more experience, but I have a good felling guys like Daniels / Bell / and Allen will start to come together eventually. One proven vet back there opposite Daniels would make a huge difference in my opinion....

I'm not sure if any coaching changes should be made yet. There's still half a season left, and although I haven't been impressed, these things can take time before coming around. Even last year it took Linehan almost half a season, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I think if we should keep the vets on the DL at least for next year but sub them more frequently with some of the younger DLmen because that would give the older guys more rest and younger guys more experience, at the same time we would always have fresh bodies to throw at the opposing oline. If the oline continues to block the it has the past 2 games, I dont see how you can make many changes to it. I think this would set them back. I'm all for drafting a LT and putting him in only if he is an absolute stud. if not let him sit part of the year and learn how to play at this level. This is only if the oline continues to block the way it has.

I would go with a DE/OLB hybrid in the first round. In the second I'd like to see a Center or a DB selected. In FA we should focus on Center and if that falls through draft the best Center prospect. I still wish we would have taken Mangold. He comes from that Ohio St. line of great inside players like LeCharles Bentley. Rex needs to go back to his best position, RG and we need a true, mauling Center who is quick on his feet with long arms and the ability to get the line on the same page on blocking assignments.

I would keep all of the main position coaches the same except for Keith Armstrong. Our STs have been on the decline for years now and Olindo also needs to go. We need a return specialist to give Wes some rest since he is emerging as a very solid slot WR. I think his drop in return averages are due in part to his extended role as a WR.

This might sound crazy but after miami beat the bears and my rutgers beat the # 3 team in the country i really believe the dolphins can win 9 in row. Call me cynical but if miami plays dominating defense the rest of the way we can win out. Go Dolphins!!!!!!!!!

Right now I would can him, but if we won out he would have to have done a pretty damn good job so I'd have to keep him then. I'm NOT a fan of Boolarky (see my sig) but if he turns it around then we keep him for the sake of continuity if nothing else.
