The 49rs will be selecting Rodgers while leaving Smith to the Dolphins.I don't think Saban will passed this opportunity to draft a QB who he feels strong about.Saban personally took time after workout to have meeting with QB prospect.

People get ready to start buying #11 Smith jerseys.

We may very well end up picking Alex Smith at #2. He may very well be the leading candidate from what Saban has been "hinting". But one thing I know for sure is... it's not safe to say we know for sure who Sabans picking or even if we'll still have the #2 pick... We may all very well be in for a surprise.

Of course all could change if 49rs decide not to be cheap and Nolan really wants Smith. There no doubt Saban thinks highly of Smith.

I think this is the way it will turn out. I see the Niners taking Rodgers in the end but if we're not going to trade down, I pray they take Smith leaving us with Ronnie Brown.

if smith won't be signed before the draft by 49ers they will pass him off to dolphins at no.2 because the 49ers don't need a player who is sour on them...

Only way that I'll be happy drafting a RB if they trade down if not take the QB not taken by 49rs.

it is a distinct possibility but it is a mile from 'safe to say'.

No one seems to consider the 9ers trading down and getting Rodgers later. Look at the draft, if they trade the #1 with someone that wants Smith, Rodgers could fall to the middle of the 1st round, at least to #7+ or so. They might actually be able to trade down twice. The 9ers would be smart to work a deal to move down if they want Rodgers. Rodgers seems to be getting no interest from the media. Strange. A week or so ago he was the consensus #1 pick. I think teams would trade up for Smith, no one else warrants it IMO.

I think SF comes to their sense and drafts Edwards at #1. Rodgers drops like a stone and the SF moves up from #33 to grab Rodgers mid 1st :foundout:

Could be...

At this point it wouldnt shock me if Campbell wound up going before Rodgers. Well I guess it would but Campbell seems to be getting more pub than Rodgers right now.

I think Campbell has the mo'.......he definitely could be the 2nd QB taken. But if I'm Rodgers and I want to play for the 49ers as a local kid, why not drop to late 1st so SF can trade up for me. So what if it means a few million....it could be made up thru incentives, etc

Wrong....We couldn't afford Alex Smith even if did get rid of Surtains salary. And even if we could possibly afford to sign him he would literally be the only player we would be able to sign. No come on is that really good for the team? No matter how bad we need a quarterback it would be Flatout IGNORANT move on our part if we did. Its a good thing you guys aren't incharge of these decisions.
