For the Dolphins to let Saban go to Alabama and bring in a real GM to run this team. They haven't had a real GM that makes the decisions in a long time. Maybe even promote Randy Mueller to that position with final authority. Then he could bring in an offensive coach like Cam Cameron to be the head coach. I like Cameron, he has done a good job with the Chargers as the OC. The hot assistant is the way to go now. Look at Sean Payton and Eric Magnini this year. No more hot college coaches coming here. That hasn't worked.

If we (essentially) give an HC the boot after 2 years, what
possible motivation does any decent coach have to come
to Miami. Giveing coaches one or two years is a sure recepie for
total meltdown.

Just look at the Raiders.

I am just talking about letting him go coach at Alabama. It wouldn't be like canning him. I think Saban is purely a college coach. The Dolphins would be better off in the long run.

You make a good point, but not one I'm in favor of happening this off-season. However, if Saban did decide to leave, Cameron would be one of my top choices to replace him....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Although Nick has one of the biggest egos in all of sports (maybe Nick will go to Bama because they'll meet his DEMANDS!) Trust me when I tell you there are 100's of coaches out there that would love a chance to coach the Fins! Besides all these coaches that get canned still get paid! Shula was on the sidelines whining that his son got canned and they're still gonna pay him for the next 4 years!!! Where's the risk? Win? You get paid even rewarded! Lose? You get paid to turn things around. You suck? You get fired! Paid not to work! Now I ask again: who wouldn't want to be a coach? Besides, replacing the Nickster is not exactly big shoes to fill. Imagine this: a "nice", offensive-minded, articulate coach. I guess that's too much too ask for.

Cameron was a college coach until a few years ago. He amassed an 18-37 record from 1997-2001 while at IU. Being a Purdue fan, we could always count on at least one win a year. You could say he was not a hot college coach. So maybe thats what you are referring to. Good coordinator, but I hope the Jets, Bills, or Pats hire him as a head coach before we do.

Hate to say it, but it appears the Jets, Bills, and Pats all have their HC sitation worked out. Saban has been clearly outcoached by Juaron and Mangini. Jet's may be set for a LONG time! :fire:

Is that because the Bills may finish 9-7 in their first season with Jauron. I thought Saban lead a 4-12 team to a 9-7 record in his first season. You also say the Jets. Do you think maybe Mangini's Jets have a little more talent especially on offense. Outcoached how about the Dolphins were just outplayed.

Why is it some of us don't give Saban a chance? I think some Fin fans have very very very high expectations and very very very little patience.

My point was I hope we never hire Cameron as a head coach.

I am starting to agree with you. Saban had no balls last night. There was no reason not to go for it in that situation. I am still pissed off about that.

Ya, but how many people thought that about Sean Payton last year before he came head coach of the Saints? I bet a lot of Saints fans weren't that fired up when he was named head coach at the time. A lot of people thought he was a puppet of Bill Parcells. Same with Eric Mangini. So you never know how it could turn out. Cameron could become a good head coach.
