In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say that Sage will light it up. Albeit against the Browns, but I do think that he'll infuse some energy into this stagnant offense. He definitely throws a nice deep ball, and seems to be more accurate than Gus. If Linehan can tailor the game plan to suit Sage's strengths and stop passing every time we get into the redzone, he can excel.

I say that the offense, in particular the WR's and McMike, will respond to all the crap that they have had dumped on them (mostly deserved), and have a break out game.

Maybe its just wishful thinking, but I just wanted to go on record.

If Sage has better accuracy than Gus, and he probably does, and Chambers and McMicahel can sudenly catch, which is a big if, the offense will probably look really good at times. It's decision making and crucial mistakes that I'm worried about.

I don't think he'll light it up but he will do well and I think he will get more respect after this game.

I think one of Chambers' biggest problems is his confidence. With big catches and TD's that comes back. I think we can all agree that Chris could easily have three or four more TD's had Gus simply been able to hit him. Now, I'm not, by any means, blaming Gus for Chris' struggles, but I feel that when a WR is thinking about catching the ball instead of naturally reacting, it hurts. When you have a QB that is all over the place, I figure that that reacting can be hard to do. I would also assume that running the equivalent of 60 yard wind sprints over and over again with little confidence that your QB is actually gonna be able to hit you tends to weigh on a reciever. Who knows?? Maybe Sage will be able to hit those with some regularity and make the WR's play up to their own abilities instead of down to the QB's.

As far as McMike is concerned, I don't think he lacks any confidence...but he also, could easily have at least three more TD's had Gus been able to hit him as well. I don't really put much on the fumble that he had this past week as I feel that that play was an effort play on his part and a pretty good play on the DB's behalf that caused the fumble.

McMike could have a HUGE game if Sage is in there as inexperienced QB's tend to go to their outlet a lot quicker than those that are experienced.

If Sage gets the start does well and gets a win, what will Saban do when Gus is healthy?

If Sage does what I hope he does, I don't think Gus sees the field for a while.

I think Sage will look like he's suppose to look, like a third string QB filling in for an injured second string QB. He is what he is guys, Saban has stuck with Gus because Gus is a better option then Sage. No need to get excited, if anything the O will take a step backwards in the passing game and I think this is a chance for Ronnie to step up and make a strong run for ROY. If Saban and Linehan are smart they will limit the passing game and start running Ricky and Ronnie till it hurts. Thats my opinion.

This whole situation has played out quite nicely for Saban. He has avoided a QB controversy like a plague and now has a reason to put Sage in. If Sage shows nothing then Gus will likely be back the following week. In this scenario, there is no division in the locker room and the talking heads on TV and in the papers have less to dig into.

Let’s all just hope that Sage does light it up because a win is a win at the end of the day! And we could do with one of them! But I wouldn’t get carried away either way, remember he is up against a weak secondary! But let’s be positive and hope he does the job!

I think we could get a W out of it because Linehan might, *might*, rely on R & R a bit more, not fully trusting Sage.

Well, I guess it was just wishful thinking.... :(

Note to self: Don't go on record anymore with backup QB's.

Probably a safe bet. We all wanted Sage to do well. It seemed like he was put into a good situation. Unfortunately he wasn't able to take advantage.
