To side track everyone that was watching that they lost. All I heard today after the game was "Hey 44 year old Flutie made a drop kick".

Chris Berman told him to do it.....that is why he did it.

"agree. in addition to all of that, our non-Super Bowl draft position improved, and Miami's got worse.:

"I'm not worried about the loss of momentum.... hell our third stringers almost beat the Dolphins first team. Offense and Defense third stringers really stood up to the first string of our supposed division threat. Had this been a real game it would have been a merciless killing."

Also this was a point I was trying to make "Drop kick shows Dolphins win vs. Pats has little meaning".Thats why I hate the whole drop kick buisness.

I think he did it because it is prolly the last time he will ever see NFL action and he wanted to go out on a fun play. What better way to end your LONG career then to go out and do something nobody has seen in forever and just have fun? It's a lot better than him attemtping a pass and getting sacked or throwing and incomplete or INT, what a way THAT would have bee to end it. By the way the annpouncer KEPT repeating that he practices it everyday since high school led me to believe it's something he alway wanted to try, and what better way/time to do it then for the very last play of his career? It even made Bilichick smile, and I have NEVER seen that man smile. I thought it was cool, I had never seen it, a dit's funny because just last month I was discussing the fact that drop kicks are technically still legal in the NFL with my boss, and we were both talking about how cool it would be to see one. We were talking more of like a QB is in shotgun, takes the snap, and kicks it through, but it's very odd that ANY dropkick happened at all after just discussing it.

*Sidenote* did anyone else hear the announcer keep calling Bilichick by the WRONG name? He called him Cowher like 3 times that I heard, lollol.

yeah yeah....the announcers and everyone made enough excuses for their 3rd stringers being in for 3 out of 4 qtrs.....so....just how many were there? The QB...Vrabel was out.....and who else? It's not like the took out ever starter and put in all 3rd stringers, far from it I bet. What you saw was obvious "3rd" string QB gaining some experience (and obviously looked 1/2 way decent) as the "2nd" string QB's career is done....what better way to judge if your 3rd stringers (i.e. last year's Sage) is good enough to be #2 then the last game of the season when you've already made the playoffs. Let him run the whole game....I'd say. So...I would LOVE to know how many players considered "3rd" string JV type practice-squad, little league players were actually on the field........Of course....putting in a few 3rd stringers to also allows them to say "well, we lost cuz we had a few 3rd stringers in"....

Anyone know the answer?

What they fail to realize is that in the 1st quarter most of their starters were in and the Dolphins were controlling the game and RW was still averaging over 4 ypc. Their only TD (with Brady) came on excellent field position after a long KO return.

Never thought of it that way. But personally, I don't care if they hopped up and down the field in potato sacks and we win...because in the NFL a win is a win. Just ask Parcells...ha!

I'm with you on this one. No harm done with the kick in fact I thought it was cool for him to do this in his last regular season game.

As far as the announcers are concerned, Cross kept making the same mistake over and over and the other guy (Lundquist?) must have alzheimer's since he kept reminding us after every play how the Pats were playing their 2nd and 3rd stringers vs. Miami's starters.

Well, I still think Berman is fun to listen to, despite his definite Bills homerisms...But it was fun for Flutie to go out on that note, and I don't begrudge him anything. I wouldn't say flutie was a 'great' QB, but he was a fun guy to watch as a fan....
