I could have sworn that Saban loves draft picks and hated trading them for players?? I wish we could have kept our 2nd rounder this year, but I'm also glad we got Culpepper; but is it true we also don't have a 5th and 6th round picks this year? And we're going to give up another draft pick to get Harrington? What gives? Our draft os looking more sad by the day. just my humble opinion.

The 5th was for the supplemental draft pick for Manny Wright (so he simply spent it a year early); the 6th for the Lemon/Feely trade with SD.
Oh, and it seems that Saban is most interested in improving the team any way possible.

Unless you can complain about the players he is getting in return for these draft picks, I dont think it's particularly noteworthy.

Look at this way, we drafted Duante Culpepper with the second round pick, pickup Manny Wright one year early, drafted Cleo lemon in the six round and maybe Joey Harrington with a 7th rounder.

And Daunte for a second, just imagine that we drafted a 29 year old guy in our second round who can put 39 TD's with just 11 INT's in a single season...
worth it, ain't it?

I thought so, too. But I'm not complaining one bit. In my humble opinion, whether you trade or draft someone with it, just use the pick to get better football players.

i dont think hes saying what saban did was bad moves cause they were good moves besides cleo but i think hes saying all u guys should eat crow right now cause u all acted like sabans brain and knew what he does or likes to do when in reality u knew nothing and now look stupid being proven wrong by ur own god.

yeah and notice that most of the players we got are the 4-5 year veteran types. Those are the ones you want. Rookies sit the first year with Saban in most cases any ways. So, having these vets are more ready to step right in.

I see us trading down and getting more picks. And then maybe trade down some more.

Harrington might not be for a draft pick this year, maybe next draft.

he may have a preference, but there are situations that come along where you won't always be able to accumulate a ton of draft picks. it's not like he would've traded the 2nd if culpepper wasn't available. it's a special situation.

I think he does like draft picks and building through the draft but i think he is first trying to get a good foundation for the team with some real solid vets and then compliment them with some real talented young guys. I think ultimatley saban wont be trading away as many draft picks once we have an identity and a solid foundation of seasoned players.

That talk was part of the Saban hero worship that goes on here more than it was Saban himself. The tale went that unlike those *******s Wanny and Rick, Nick valued his picks. It's a bunch of garbage. Nick values making the team better, and he'll beg, borrow, or steal to make it happen. That has always been his MO.

joey harrington is terrible. the only way i would take him would be if he was free or we could get draft picks for him.

Not many 7th rounders make NFL teams let alone have big impacts....a 7th for Joey would be ok....as long as it is not two or three 7th rounders plus another pick next year.
